Use existing variables in the recipient field of a Send Email form

While using an action rule it is possible to send an email. In the send email form, several variables exist that can be used in the subject line and body of the email. Please add the ability to use these variables in the recipient field, too. We have a need to send an email to the assigned technician, but multiple possible technicians exist. It is not practical to list all possible technicians in the email template.

This is a great idea!  It's come up multiple times over the years, so it seems as if this should be high on the list of feature requests:

So the total of the above votes (59) plus the two on this feature request = 60 people have voted this idea.  Seems like it should have already been implemented by now.
