Hey everyone! We're starting something new; giving you a heads-up notice on upcoming releases so you have advanced visibility and time to prepare for what’s coming. Going forward, you can expect these preview posts a few days in advance of a SolarWinds Service Desk release, giving you a high-level overview of what's coming, with full release descriptions, release notes, detailed documentation, and support materials dropping on the actual release day. Here's what's rolling out Tuesday, June 30th:
Credential Field Masking
Plan Type: All Plans
Sensitive credential fields like tokens and passwords will be masked and non-retrievable after storage. While only admins could access these values before, this enhancement tightens security by preventing these fields from being visible in the UI or copyable via browser inspection.
Task Management v2
Plan Type: All Plans
A more powerful, scalable task experience. Once you migrate from v1, you'll unlock richer task workflows, including a dedicated task page, improved task lists and filtering, clearer status tracking, comments and @mentions , time tracking, custom fields, and better visibility into task details and source context. Managers will also gain stronger oversight and reporting across assignees, task states, and time spent, helping teams track work more effectively. You can migrate from v1 on your own anytime between June 30th and October 31st, so you’ll have time to transition at a pace that works for you. After October 31st, we'll automatically migrate all remaining accounts during scheduled regional maintenance windows.
Note: This migration is a prerequisite for upcoming project management capabilities we're releasing in the near future.
Unified Asset View (Launching in Labs)
Plan Type: All Plans
All your assets (computers, mobile devices, network equipment, and printers) will now live in a single searchable index. This means cleaner workflows and faster asset discovery across your environment. No more jumping between asset menus. Users can find and navigate to any asset type seamlessly.
Granular Data Masking Controls (Labs Update)
Plan Type: Advanced & Premier
After the release, you will have four independent masking toggles: separate controls for PII/PCI and PHI across both attachments and input fields. This gives you more precise control over what gets masked and where. Current data masking users will need to review and adjust configurations to the new granular controls over the coming weeks.
That's the preview. Again, we'll be dropping full release notes, detailed documentation, migration guides, and more Tuesday with the release right here on THWACK.
Mark your calendars and get ready. See you Tuesday!
