WHD GAMIL SMTP configuration

Hi Team,

Recently I'm facing configuring outgoing mail account with GMAIL SMTP. For incoming mail account I have used Gmail modern auth configuration to authenticate. However, outgoing mail account does not authenticate. I tried all the possible ways it did not work. Any suggestions please?

If you are using SSL then the Port should be 587.

That's is not the case even port 587 didn't work. However, I was able to fix it sometimes back. The issue started after Gmail disabled the less secure app.

Then you will need to use an Application Password which Google Mail generates for you as your password.

I have the same issue and I've reported it twice now to support - it's been months since the last time I asked for help on it. Neither time has support been able to provide me with a solution. Both times I got back "You'll need to contact Google" or "Have you updated to the latest version of WHD?" and when we update and still get the error? The tickets have gone un-responded to.

I think the final error that you get like we do ("Authentication Failed") is the most confusing, because everything else prior works exactly as detailed in the help files - it appears to authenticate with Google and everything. I've even gone so far as to submit videos of the issue so support can see what's going on and I can prove I've done everything they've asked...but still nothing. Example: Case 00793474 and Case 01026176.

If it helps, support told us to add the following into the "OAuth consent screen" Scopes within the Google Developer Console, after recreating the connection from scratch:

We did so, but that didn't seem to solve anything. I've love to have it use OAuth since that's really much more secure than using the "Application Password" method...but so far...were stuck using it because that's all that works.

Suggest - Create a new client ID and secret in thei Google account and reconfigure it in WHD by creating new incoming mail account.

I agree with this, at the one time we tried this we had to create a brand new Mail account, it refused to accept the old Google Mail account which had been in use previously.
