Roles and Permissions Overhaul
Granular Permissions and Flexibility
We're working on adding more specific roles and permissions, and it would be helpful to have more flexibility in how permissions are assigned or restricted.
Improved 'Scope' Selection
Instead of the current single dropdown under "Scope" when adding a permission, it would be nice to consider using a multi-picklist or multi-checkbox option.
- For example, when adding a permission, I can currently select only one category from the dropdown. If I need to select multiple categories, I must repeat the process using a second, third, fourth, etc dropdown. A multi-select option would allow me to select multiple categories at once, streamlining the process.
Copy/Clone Permissions
It would be useful to have an option to clone or copy a permission or restriction and apply it to a newly created or existing role, rather than rebuilding it from scratch each time.
- A mass copy/paste feature would also be valuable, allowing edits to be applied to multiple roles simultaneously.
- For example, if I need to restrict access to a subcategory (e.g., "Subcategory: Test") for certain roles, I would currently have to edit each role individually. A mass edit or copy-paste feature would save time and effort.
Collapsible Roles
It would be helpful to have the ability to collapse or expand roles to make managing them easier and more organized.
Gray Out Active Permissions/Restrictions
When applying restrictions, it would be useful to gray out or remove permissions that are already active or in use.
- For example, if I create a restriction for "Action: Manage" and "Subject: Problems," I should see an indication that this combination is already in use when trying to create another restriction with the same parameters.
More Granular Control Over Setup Permissions
Currently, permissions for setup options are either fully granted or fully restricted. It would be more flexible to have more specific control within these setup tabs.
- For instance, when hitting 'Add Restriction' access and selecting "Subject > Setup > Service Desk", I can't selectively allow someone to manage only "Automations" or "Dynamic Form Rules" while restricting access to other sections like "Categories" or "Surveys."
