Problem:
Approval tasks still showing in My Tasks view even though the task or ticket approval has been completed.
Some workflows have a group assigned to the approval routing. They can be set various ways as you know. The issue is that the approval will reach the criteria of either one person approved, half of the people approved, or all of the people approved. When the criteria is met, and the task in the ticket workflow is completed, the taks itself does not update for all people who have that task and it causes those who approve via any method, application, email, or My Task list to not know if something was completed and can/does lead to confusion over the state of a ticket requiing the task.
In our example, we have an approval task for our Changes. It can be approved by any of the Supervisors in our department. If one approves via the app, the Tasks do not update leaving the task open for someone to approve via the email or My Tasks list.
I have a Change #1273 already approved and completed.

I go to My Task List and see that an approval for #1273 is still pending. I think this should update depending on whether or not the approval is still out standing. If I click on Approve, this ticket will no longer be in the Closed Completed state, it will be in the Approved state.
