francois, i really appreciate your time with me today. not many companies would do that. i do now have a better understanding of the product and the direction solarwinds is going. i still do not like it but again, i understand it better. i look forward to working with you in the future!

i have an integrated server. the problem mysteriously resolved itself. all i did was open licensing manager, check the version and date (it was correct). then close it. i then went back to the ncm web page and it was back to "normal"
-
my apologies, i didnt realize that was a new feature
-
wow! just when i think it cant possibly get any worse i come this morning to: Evaluation time expired. on my NCM, even though i went through the registration process when i upgraded (successfully i might add) this should be embarassing for solarwinds!!! my advice to others: do not upgrade to version 7!!!

bueller . . . bueller . . . any response on this from solarwinds? this causes me HUGE headaches for what its worth, it always seems to blow up on this line: @import url("Orion/APM/APMEvents.css");
-
thanks for your post. Could you explain how a end user running a personal (pc) firewall that you have no control over will reply to any ICMP or SNMP scan ? sadly, short of what was said above about implementing pulling arp tables i cant think of another way we have some newer printers that also dont respond to icmp and…

francois, i appreciate your response but it just further solidifies that this isnt the same product i purchased and that the direction solarwinds is taking is not good for me. and here is where you hit the nail on the head. you intended the http interface to closely mirror the console in both performance and utility. it is…

yes, i have toolset installed yes, i have browser integration enabled yes, i have local admin rights (IE) this worked at one time but i get the same error as above. its never been important enough to me to open a ticket though since i just open the toolset bandwidth guage
-
appears to be an unrelated problem many thanks to all that helped!!!
-
in copying and pasting this i figured it out when setting the permission i left out Protected Storage in the command these instructions need a rewrite on this portion, bad
-
sorry i missed this. if you are already using ncm to back up the device then no you do not have to enter the login as part of the script. it really all depends on your setup. if i am running a script on a few devices that arent identified in a group then i just highlight them all, right click, and execute command script.…

there is a separate setting for downloading configs, this is from the device tab
-
no, ive never installed a beta on this machine
-
no, you dont need multiple alerts. you can do both in the same alert
-
Have you applied the fix documented in this KB? http://support.solarwinds.com/kbase/ProblemDetail.cfm?ID=1139 perfect, thank you!!!
-
amen!

it is my understanding that with v7 it integrates fully into the orion database and the cirrus db is no longer needed. dont take my word but this was the answer customer support gave me as to why i couldnt have my db admin just role me back to a previous date to restore my deleted nodes.
-
it is still there (the console) and you can view the info however when you open it to view the settings on each node it will warn you that it is read only access
-
just create the advanced alert in NCM. under trigger actions use "execute ncm action"then on the action tab select execute config script, put in your credentials to run the script. in the command script to execute just put your script here to reload and you should be good to go. if you look under advanced alerts there is…
-
good info, thanks. will just keep using the gui then. wish i was more help to you but that is an odd one that i havent seen. i have 3 sidewinders that have been in orion for about 3 years now.
-
this ended up working great for the trigger, however, for the reset action i cant figure out how to get it to work since i cant put a delay on that side. what happens is the trigger for +60 is on the alert side between 7a-7p so when an outage of 10 minutes happens it gets ignored. then when it comes back up i get an email…
-
i didnt even think of adding that to the email i already had setup, many thanks!!!
-
NPM does allow you to kick off NCM scripts.
-
to further clarify. ncm saves the configs as txt files. however, when you run a script against ncm devices it gives you a single report. i ran a script against 4 of my devices to show you what the output would look like BRANCH-xxxx1_3750 (0.0.0.0) show run | include dhcp BRANCH-xxxx2_3750 (1.1.1.1) show run | include dhcp…

glad it worked for you by default it keeps them well organized in the folders. usually after the first of the year i just create a folder for the previous year and drag the backups to it keeping them all sorted even further
-
i too would like this feature, i did a demo on a product that did this and it was very nice. sadly, the price was not.
-
under trigger actions highlight the alert you want repeated then click on 'edit selected action' and you should see an 'alert escelation' tab
-
i tried both pix and asa settings and it still shows mine as *****

. . . and we have discussions with dev about making the NCM WEB UI snappier. NCM isnt the only web UI that is slow. Orion crawls too since the web integration started.
