Alerting on T1/E1 controllers

Hi,

I've been testing a new alert for our global ISDN circuits but it hasn't been working as expected. My goal is to setup an alert and notify me via email when a voice T1 or E1 controller goes down (controller issue, Telco issue or physical cable issue).

Our location consist of the following info:

- Controller Type: E1 or T1

- Node Name: XXX-GW1 or XXX-VG1 (XXX is unique in our network and represents the location ID)

- Location: USA/Asia/Europe/Middle East (each router is configured with a snmp-server location command to indicate where that node is located)

Attached is my setup on the trigger condition. No reset condition, suppression. Trigger action is via email which is the same variables I use on our existing alerts.

When I group the E1 or T1 to and apply the 'any trigger condition, doesn't work. Same with the Node Name and Locations. Looks like I have to set this up multiple times to match all. An alert to match E1, another alert to match T1, another to match GW1, another for VG1 and so on...

Is there an easy way to place all conditions in the one alert or may max of 2 alerts if needed?

I'm not sure if the 'Interface Name - Starts with - T1 0' the correct condition I need. I need the alert to monitor the controllers on our Cisco routers.

BTW, the trigger shown on the screenshot above works. But this alert only applies to nodes in the USA, name contains GW1. I want to use the same alert for nodes in other regions (snmp-server location mentioned on 1st post), nodes using E1 and nodes that contain VG1 on the hostname.

if i read understood you correctly, i think you need to add another tier to the alert and add an "trigger this alert when any of the following apply" and then add the locations

>trigger this alert when any of the following apply

>>location = usa

>>location = europe

just saw the other issue (name)

i believe the same fix will solve this issue as well

Is there an easier way on grouping the conditions (E1 and T1) (GW1 and VG1) in the one alert?

Is the condition 'Interface name - contains - GW1' correct or can I use another condition to match whats in the hostname?

no, you dont need multiple alerts. you can do both in the same alert
