Feature Request - Assign a Service Request to a new assignee

If we have a scheduled request that runs every month and this is currently assigned to a tech group. When the request is created, the agent then assigns this to themselves and then they want this to trigger an approval process that sends that approval to the new assignee.

Because the process starts as soon as the ticket is created, it will not assign any approval process to an assignee because there is no assignee initially. 

Any tips?

  • Here is an idea.  Make the first step of the process a Task to "Assign the request".  Once someone takes ownership of the Service Request and that task is closed, the next step could be an Approval Task using a variable for the "Assignee" as the approver.  You will want to make sure "Just in time workflow processing" is turned on (Settings>Global Settings>Service Desk Setting) so that when the approval task fires, it will look to see who the SR is currently assigned to.
