THWACK Blogs
There are several "blog" options within the community. Below we'll review the blogs relevant to the community at large.
Community Announcement
Twice a week, the community team will generate what's called a "Community Announcement" blog post which is essentially a system email that goes to all our members. Because these hit our entire THWACK user base, we strictly limit these to messages relevant to the bulk of the community (ex. THWACKcamp, SolarWinds Day, Academy courses). We will not post about niche topics here.
Geek Speak
Geek Speak is used to post product-agnostic content or general overviews of what's happening (Ex. Geekly World News). This should not be confused with the content that's meant for Orange Matter. Anything posted here should stay relevant to the practitioner. For example, "How to Survive Being Your Company's Accidental DBA" in the format of a listicle. The content can range from silly to serious, or a playful mix of both.
Product Blog
Product Blog is intended to be used for deeply technical content that involves several of our products. For example, how two products work well together, how our products integrate/work with others, how to set up a modern dashboard within our products, how to conquer alert fatigue with a particular product, etc. These can often be "cross-posted" to the mentioned product's Newsroom (more on this below).
Product Newsrooms
Each product forum is equipped with its own "Newsroom" blog. Authors to these blogs are limited. If you need to request access to your product's newsroom blog, please contact the THWACK Community Team. The content in this space should be limited to how-to content directly related to the product OR any relevant product updates (RC/GA posts and WWWO posts).
How Do I Contribute Content?
If you have content you'd like to contribute to a TWHACK blog, there's a standard process you'll need to follow.
Use Our Blog Templates
Start by using blog templates found in the Digital Asset Manager (DAM) here to ensure you're capturing all the needs of the community. Remember you have the following options:
- Community Announcement
- Geek Speak/Product Blog/Newsroom Micro-blogging
- Newsroom RC/GA Post
- Newsroom WWWO Post
Submit to Content Review
Anything posted in any public blog must be submitted to Content Review. You will need to note that your blog post is specifically intended for THWACK in your request form. Additionally, be sure to request Creative in the request form. Your blog post will require (at minimum) a "post image". The editorial team will assign special community-related tasks to your project to ensure you have everything you need to post your content.
