Hi - need some advice / help on copying over classic dashboard to an modern dashboard
thank you
Hi, I'm afraid you cannot.Modern Dashboard Widgets offer a minimum of the features from Classic Dashboards.I just tried the same and came to the following conclusion:
Good:- Nice seemless refresh- Fancy Squares, that show single states in real time (KPI)
Bad:- No usable graphical query designer, everything is based on SWQL- No plain SQL and SWQL is by far not as powerful- Only PerfStack Charts, that are not really much customizable in display (units, charttype, ...)
You could try to create Table Widgets based on SWQL Statements from your classic tables, but charting is limited to PerfStack.
You can't copy it directly but has to recreate it. If you have alot of custom swql you can use them in modern also. Might need some tweaking to get them correct there.
A good start is to look at these blog post: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/product-forums/the-orion-platform/b/news/posts/modern-dashboarding-part-1-swql-studio
You can also check out the Modern Dashboard Content Exchange. I've two modern dashboards there already. One is a SolarWinds Admin Dashboard which was based on a classic version of the dashboard that I just updated the SWQL queries and widgets and the other is an Alert Dashboard where again, we were able to take some classic dashboard ideas and bring them over to a modern dashboard. You can import these dashboards and then have access to the SWQL Query behind the widgets and make any edits you need to make them work better in your environment.
