Solarwinds orion integration - device import issues.

I have just setup our Service Desk instance to have a dedicated scanner and to import our nodes in our orion instance however over half of the devices are listed as skipped and i can not figure out why.  

I'm looking for any documentation on how its setup other than just the basics, also started a ticket with support but so far hasn't gone anywhere.

So adding in things as I find them.  

A large group of nodes that were skipped our APC units, but I did see that some were imported.  The strange thing is they all use the exact same community strings etc. 

I noticed in my Orion instance I was not monitoring any of the interfaces on the ones that were not working.  I added in the basic vmac0 interface to monitor that in Orion (waited for it to start collecting data) and then re-ran the scan from service desk and the Node was added in.  I'm going back through right now and enabling the interface monitoring on any APC that does not currently have anything and then am going to re-do the scan one more time and see what happens. 

EDIT: also it seems for SAM devices if asset inventory is enabled what needs to be enabled.  even if an interface is monitored you may still have issues.
