FIX THIS !! - Computer Inventory not properly collected - Agent vs Scanner

When the local agent runs on a client device. All inventory is collected, monitor serial numbers, disk free space, etc. We'd rather to use a 'sever' to scan the subnets and report the discovered devices back to SWSD. The scanner does not collect the same information as the agent resulting in missing information:

This is a bug, but we have no choice but to use the 'feature request' in the forum. Please fix this!!!

Hi - this is purely based on the fact that the discovery agent is a local agent that has permissions to access all of this information. With any discovery scanner you need to populate the scanner with credentials that tells the computer that it has permission to access such information. Even with the correct credentials, the scanner is only able to access so much information which you can see here which protocols collect which information. We also have integrations with SCCM, InTune, AWS, etc that help fill any of these gaps with the agents they are running. Hope this helps!

Joey, Spiceworks and Lansweeper are 2 products that use a centralized (server) agent to remotely scan devices and achieve a complete view of the asset. It is completely ridiculous that Solarwinds has invested effort to do a complete picture via the local agent and abandon the remaining problem solve to achieve a complete scan from the 'asset scan'
