Improved Group management

Looking for improved features related to Orion Groups. Currently most users have to create a Custom Property to act as a Group for managing all the nodes in an Orion Group instead of using the built in Groups function. Would be good to see enhanced functions like:

- Alert Management - Mute / UnMute / Unmanage Group

- Modern Dashboard Support - Group status

- tag based grouping - adding a node to an Orion Group based on a defined tag

Having to create a customization because the built in feature doesn't have functionality is not ideal and not sustainable for larger environments.

For Modern Dashboard support, there's already support for Group Status. You can take any custom SWQL Query (like Group Detail Page - Busiest Interfaces on group members ) and use that query in a Modern Dashboard widget.

Tagging is interesting because it feels like it's sort of already handled via Custom Properties. You can build a group with a Dynamic Query for it's members (See Dynamic Query information in Edit group properties or change the group members (solarwinds.com)). Are you requesting a different way of using tags I'm not comprehending?

I would like to be able to ingest Tags from my sources such as VMWare, Azure, ServiceNow and leverage them in Grouping, Reporting, Alerting, etc. Currently, from my conversations with TAC, this is not natively supported. The recommendation was to create a new SQL table and manually enter the various tags for each node. As we have several thousand nodes, this isn't feasible. As tagging is part of an enterprise strategy used by many groups outside on our monitoring stack I want to avoid re-inventing the wheel for this with Custom Properties.

Using the API, you can already mute and unmute groups (though it's omitted in the web console because of possible recursion craziness).

Group status can be rolled up into Modern Dashboards. What are you trying to show?

I do agree that it's time to allow for "tags" as we think about them commonly these days. Both for defining a group (Group X contains all elements with Tag Y) and for notating (tag Group A with Tag .
