Hi SolarWinds & THWACKians,
I have been working with a great SolarWinds technician on a SolarWinds Case "#01979524 Icons & Structure lost when importing Network Atlas maps into Intelligent Maps" and we have come to the point where the issue faced is requiring a Feature Request.
SolarWinds, please strongly consider supporting the import of Network Atlas empty/unassigned graphics from Network Atlas maps into Intelligent Maps.
The organisation I work for has hundreds of maps that are used for troubleshooting and also auditing purposes. All of these maps contain graphics which are a mix of nodes associated to graphics, and the other graphics on the same maps are just cosmetic and without any node/object associated.
Scenario: When you import a Network Atlas map that is for example representing a network diagram...
- And, the map has some nodes linked/associated to graphics representing node statuses
- But, some graphics on the same map are just a graphic with a label
- Then, these graphics are not imported and you have an unfinished map - the structure also gets messed up and skewed
I feel as though this will deter migrations from Network Atlas to Intelligent Maps due to the overhead.
This is because:
- There are user/environment requirements to have maps where relating nodes which exist in SolarWinds are on the map
- But some graphics which represent nodes that aren't in SolarWinds currently due to environment requirements (security, DMZ, etc) are also on the map
In our environment this may cause discordance towards the product (as we've just had to manually migrate ~600 NA maps from a 10+ year old deployment, so teams wouldn't be thrilled to go through a similar-but-different scenario to import NA to IM and fix the missing graphics).
In our case, there are multiple teams managing hundreds and hundreds of maps that are like this. And unfortunately it will be months of overhead and effort to amend maps that are ported from Network Atlas to Intelligent Maps in the current state.
Meanwhile, because of how critical maps are to this environment we will not be able to upgrade to later version for the fear of Network Atlas being completely removed from those as it is mentioned it is being deprecated in future releases. So we'll be unable to keep up with latest features and security fixes until maps are migrated made identical.

All Import Settings Selected for Intelligent Maps - have tried all sorts of variations along with no selections, there is no change to the result:

Thanks, SolarWinds! Let me know if you require any further information.
