Then that is the answer. If the status in the db is up and packet loss is not 10% or greater (based on the last poll) then no matter how I set it up it's possible to fail.

We had already been waiting for a new release for a year + so why rush to release a product and then have major releases within 2 months.

Yes they were LONG over due for an upgrade. But at what expense? Do I now as the administrator spend my day working around bugs, and waiting for hotfixes. For as long as we waited for the releases seems to me they had plenty of time to produce a more sound product.

Problem found. Polling server did not reboot. DB server did. Previous version of Orion did not do this. The poller allowed time for db to come up....I'm guessing.

I have this problem also. My boss does not receive alerts while other groups do. Not on Exchange but similiar issue.

Yes it's running on my old system....that I would like to take down.....except it has Syslog. I've been down that road and the network team won't budge. They do not want to change the address on network devices. Any other options.

The CSS devices are switches. The servers are not in NPM so I am polling the switch for the status of the services. The servers are connect to the switches I'm polling and have the applications running on them.
