How does Orion know to suppress downstream devices. My suppression is for node status = down, unknown or warning OR packet loss greater than 10%.
Does Orion poll the device for current status OR does it look at the db for status of last poll?
Anybody?
For suppression of downstream devices, you'll need to set up custom properties for each alert to describe what is downstream.
Could you provide more information because that statement really doesn't answer my question. Does Orion check the status of the devices or does it check the database for the status of the device (the last poll)?
Bump
QLE, thanks for the response but my question is not answered. Which is does.. Orion use the status is in the database to do the suppression or does it check the device. Even if I use the method suggested by Network_Guru Orion has to either check the database or check the device(s). Which is it? I have built suppressions in all 49 of my distribution centers. My problem is intermittently the suppressions work. So I am trying to better understand what it is doing.
Can anybody at SW answer this question?
