Everytime I reboot our Orion box I get about 20 false alerts sent to me when the machine comes back up. Has anyone else seen this?
I have a condition I'm still looking into where a device has been down for weeks, but periodically I get a DOWN email alert for no reason. We haven't rebooted Orion, haven't changed anything...just out of the blue, "Device 12345, down". This device has been down for the lifetime of 8.5.1, and was down when our Orion was 8.1. This is something that just started happening with 8.5.1.
I’ve received over 100 emails after rebooting the server. I now shut the alerts off before I reboot. I also have seen were I receive no alerts for a while and when I test the alerts with the test email button I receive all the emails it had not sent for the last few weeks
I stop the all orion services before i reboot.. I think I remember reading somewhere that some users even uninstall the alerting service.. I have never done this..
The issue I have had since day one of the install is that the basic alerts will trigger every time the NetPerfMon service is restarted. VERY annoying. As I get time, I have been trying to convert all my basic alerts to advanced so this doesn't happen.
Good point. For the others in this thread, are your issued related to basic, or advanced alerts (or both)?
I have this problem. I upgraded last week to NPM 9.1 our server reboots every Sunday and this morning (Monday) I received nearly 500 alets. Anybody else having this issue?
Problem found. Polling server did not reboot. DB server did. Previous version of Orion did not do this. The poller allowed time for db to come up....I'm guessing.
I'm seeing this same issue & i'm currently using NPM 10. Every once in a while i get alerts that interfaces are down & they have previously been down for weeks. Next time it happens i'm planning to open a support ticket.
