We have 9, just about to test 9.1. With 9 the scrolling pauses each screenful, but I guess that's resolved in 9.1.. I was thinking in the management app anyway, but if it's doable in the web with 9.1 even better! Thanks! -SK

DANG! I was afraid of that! Can you think of any other way for me to accomplish this? Thanks much! -SK

Done! Although I think it takes a bit for them to show up in the list... Enjoy, and thanks! -Steve

Functional Device Tracker!

The one I currently have setup is: 1) Poller name is equal to pethMainPseConsumptionPower 2) Numeric Status is greater than or equal to 351 Ahhh.. You know what, it does seem to work.. For whatever reason when I was trying to use the Test Alert function it wasn't acting right, but when I try an actual alert it works! Cool!…

Does this work with 9.1 SP3 ?
-
Well, it seems that you're not able to select a few needed options when creating the report so it's kinda there.. As far as doing it in Orion we only monitor needed interfaces like uplinks on switches, not every port on the switch... Cirrus should have the info to do it, just seems like the report creater is a little…

Jfarney: That sounds like a great solution and I'm curious if you have any plans on releasing those ASP scripts to the public? Thanks! -Steve

Verify that COM+ (The IIS component) is in fact installed, you may even want to try to reinstall it...

I asked for this to be resolved a while ago, for some reason they keep fixing things with CatOS, but ignore IOS issues.. What's up SW? Any ETA on this fix? -Steve

John, Check this: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -Steve

Oh! I forgot to mention a couple of things.. First off we're also looking at dumping Concord in favor of Orion so you're really getting 2 great products for a FRACTION of the cost of one. Just to give you an idea, HP wants to stick us for ~$25K just to upgrade our current version of Openview NMS to the latest and…

BwlBoy, Having downloaded the run the demo for 30 days I can tell you that Orion is definitely a good way go, here's a rundown of things from my experience with Orion vs Openview. Our network consists of about 1000 nodes, routers, switches, all different speeds and media, etc, overall a pretty diverse network. We currently…

NG: Ahh yeah, seems that one of the other guys figured it out, looks good now! Thanks! -Steve
-
Yup, we found out the same thing. I think it figures it out during the next inventory, although I thought I tested it and it didn't work... Maybe it takes a couple inventories or something.. Either way it works which LIGHT YEARS ahead of braindead Ciscoworks... -SK

Wouldn't a PDF report be great? Come SW crew get with it and give us some options. I hope this and the recent breaking of Outlook 2007 helps make you guys realize that how you're currently handeling email reports has a lot of room for improvements. As it stands right now since we're running Outlook 2007 we can't view any…

What exactly does the Management interface do for you as opposed to the Web interface? Are there certain tasks that HAVE to be done in the Mgmt interface that can't be done via web, or the other way around? Do either of you have any *BIG* problems with Orion that just really bug you? Thanks for the feedback, very useful…

I don't think so cause after I post something it'll always say 'Not Moderated' at the top.. Like this message for instance.. -Steve

Right, especially on weekends when there are no updates. Come on guys, let your customers help themselves out, the quicker information can get out the better off we all are! All in favor say AYE! -Steve
-
Actually, it looks like nothing gets refreshed after it's already been discovered, node details or interface details.. Looks like I'm asking for a feature request.. -Steve
-
That was my next step.. Seems odd to me that I'd be dropping so many packets, my network runs great! -Steve
-
Ahhhhhh... Hmmmmm, strange that I'm getting that much packet loss on some links or is Orion just being very picky? -Steve
-
*BUMP* Anyone? -Steve

Running the latest and greatest 7.8 in a Trial mode, hoping I wasn't going to see things like this since we gotta get the higher ups to buy in.. BTW, is that registry setting still valid in 7.8? What is the default, 1? Anyone else having a problem like this? Hmmmmmmmmmmm..... -Steve

We had a call with Denny the other day and this was one of the topics we brought up. He said that quite a few other people were interested in this as well. Sounds like they're hearing us so we'll have to wait and see what happens.. Ideally we'd like to see this as an addon package as it just doesn't seem to be a 'Core'…

Ahh HA! I guess it just takes time playing around with it before you figure out what all the widgets do! Seems that I was grouping a bunch of fields together in the Report Grouping instead of just one field! Looks great now! Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes, I guess that's what this forum is all about.. -Steve
-
Playing around a bit more I discovered a few things that I thought were interesting. First off if I run the report via the Report Writer and export it the report it looks great, just as I expect it to. But again, if I run the report via the web page (Or Report Generator) nothing lines up correctly. It seems that there is a…

Ahh.. Thought so.. Hmmm.. Well, anyone have problems running Orion and Cirrus off the the DB server? Initially we're thinking about putting Orion and Cirrus on the same machine but have a shared DB server, both of which will be pretty beafy boxes. We're probably looking at managing ~2000 nodes in both Cirrus and Orion just…
-
Yeah, slightly annoying cause we really don't need 2 products pinging the same devices. What we did was crank up the node polling interval to the max of ~9 hours cause we really don't care if Cirrus can see the devices every 10 mins or not, that's Orion's job.. -Steve
-
I'm having the same problem, and actually opened a case about this.. -Steve
