Network Configuration Manager (NCM)
Swapping devices

All,
Been playing around with Cirrus a bit and so far we like what we see, but I'm wondering about one thing. Doing some testing I've put a 3500 (48 port) on the wire, discovered it, baselined it,etc. I then went ahead and swapped in a 2950 (24 port) in its place with the same IP address and ran an inventory. It went ahead and rediscovered the switch, but it still thinks it's a 3500 and when I run a report or a config compare it just says there are 5845349345 or so changes. It has NO idea that it's actually a completely different platform.
So, my question is there some other means for Cirrus to deal with this or is it a totally manual process and not soo smart like CiscoWorks?
What are you guys doing in order to deal with things like this?
Thanks!

I just replaced a router that was already in Cirrus, and it did eventually rediscover it as a different Router model than was previously in place.
I haven't figured out the discovery timing yet, or if it can be triggered manually, but it will eventually happen.
I've been playing with "snmp-server location" settings as a way to group my devices. Even if I force a config download or a device inventory, the location setting doesn't kick in. It is seeming like it takes a day or so depending on the rediscovery schedule (which I don't know how to modify yet)
Over all, I like Cirrus, but I still think there are some things that should have been addressed before V. 3

Yup, we found out the same thing. I think it figures it out during the next inventory, although I thought I tested it and it didn't work... Maybe it takes a couple inventories or something..
Either way it works which LIGHT YEARS ahead of braindead Ciscoworks...
