Ahhh! Thanks for that John, I'll give it a shot! Well, we just like to get an idea on what's going on, things like error counts and what not, just to see if something looks 'different' from day to day that might help to indicate a problem.. Thanks again! -Steve

I guess I didn't explain it very well.. By alerting I mean monitoring the up/down status and marking the interface down (red) in our device list. Like I said we have a lot of switch ports that could go up/down at anytime and we'd just rather not know about it if possible.. Make sense? -Steve
-
Well, typically configs are downloaded via telnet or SSH so I'd check to make sure you are able to normally login to the switch with whichever one you normally use. What kind of switch is it? Cisco? If you're able to login to it normally then I'm guessing you have a password issue in Cirrus so retype your passwords.. Do…

Adding/Deleting/Renaming/Disabling of nodes/interfaces Setting up alerts/notifications for nodes/interfaces I guess we'll take a little at a time.. Oh, I hope you guys are looking into something like AJAX to perform this web wizardy instead of a full blown Java implementation.. Java BAD! -SK

I'm guessing most folks have moved away from traps in favor of syslog, any chance you can do that? It'll simplify your life so I'd seriously consider it if possible... -SK

Ahhhhhhhhh.. Figured it out, seems that I had to dig a bit in the customize view area....

We're using this Custom Poller on our 2800's to see the bps Policy Map Usage: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.166.1.15.1.1.11 The bit rate of the traffic after executing QoS policies. Is that what you're looking for? -SK

VPN would be a good option, maybe using something like a Cisco ASA 5505 to keep the costs down ($350). With that you could do IPSEC/SSL or even a Web Portal that puts you directly on the web front end. Or you could use something like Logmein which installs a client for access... Good luck! -SK

In the Manager you can just right click on the interface and goto Interface Details then just change it to the correct speed.. You gotta watch this cause sometimes it just guesses the wrong speed, it thinks a bunch of my T1 circuits are E1s (2Mbps) for some reason.. Cheers.. -Steve

Great! Although the bug is really with Outlook! -Steve
-
*BUMP* Anyone at SW get a chance to check this out? How about anyone else? -Steve
-
Well, Outlook 2007 is used since it's the latest and greatest, there are many other features that are good, which is why we're using it.. Thanks again Microsoft! -Steve
-
Can't, the Enterprise uses Outlook for everything.. Wish I could... -Steve
-
Outlook 2007 doesn't know how to deal with the HTML that makes up the message so the only thing you see is a bunch of attached (not displayed) files, normally I'd see a fully rendered and correct HTML email.. Go here, or just google for outlook 2007 html problems blogs.zdnet.com/.../ msdn2.microsoft.com/.../aa338201.aspx…

I ran the report once, then it failed complaining about the SUMTABLE so I nuked that table and it ran again.. Seems that it doesn't clean up correctly or something.. -Steve
-
Or using one of my existing groups seems to work ok too Thanks! -Steve

Hmmmmmmmm... I can't seem to get this to work, I get the following error: Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 3, Line 4 Invalid column name 'Service'. Server: Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Invalid object name 'SUMTABLE'. I should be able to just run this out of SQL Query Analyzer without any DB mods, correct? Thanks…

heheh... Yes, we currently do own Cirrus and just wasn't quite sure of all the devices it could talk to.. -Steve
-
Opened up the needed ports between the networks/firewalls.. It's what SNMP, ICMP? Shouldn't be too big of deal.. -Steve
-
It's a manual process with Orion, but honestly having used both the automatic discovery in HPOV gets to be annoying as it sometimes goes crazy and discovers all sorts of nodes it shouldn't. The problem with autodiscovery is that you have to create filters that allow or deny devices and unless they're 100% you start getting…

Ah HA! Same problem I'm having, and as of yet SW hasn't fessed up to there being a problem! I've tried LOTS of different OIDs including catalyst 6500 temperature, active DS0 sessions on a as5300, and active sessions on a 3030 Concentrator, all of which test out OK, but none give me good data when I actually setup the…

By digging around a bit on the web site I found this: www.solarwinds.net/.../Scalability_Options.htm Exactly what I was looking for, just had to find it! hehehhe.. -Steve
