If it weren't for the problems I have with cold (Atlanta is bad enough), I would totally jump at the chance to join your organization.

Good morning, Dog - A view may have up to six columns. I'll send you a screen shot that shows where you go to modify the view. Ken

I, too, find the built-in reports to be somewhat lacking. However, I can usually build a custom report that fills the bill. I don't bother with the web console report builder, I go straight to Report Writer on the server as it has far more options.

There is no way to explain #2 to a non-IT person. In that situation I would probably just say “OK” Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

Unfortunately, no. The only place to do this is in Report Writer.

I have had this happen as well, and the opportunity to mess with a user’s head is irresistible. Good one! Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

I have been asked by the senior folk here multiple times about when am I going to start generating business hour reports for our global sites. I have considerable egg on my face over this as I recommended SolarWinds in the first place. Report Writer can filter on "hour of the day" but it fails when spanning days. This is…

You could go on Graham Norton with that story, brilliant! Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

I agree - every report I generate is pretty much invalid as I cannot filter to business days / hours. I am no SQL programmer and the example that was posted makes my eyes cross. NOT the poster's fault, of course. Is the thick client still available?

I used to do custom builds. Your stories are very familiar to some of mine. Very funny! Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

Does your business day /hour extend beyond the SolarWinds server’s midnight? Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

I've been in IT for almost thirty years, and I've heard (and seen) some doozies. My personal favorite, though, has to be from the DOS days when I was asked by a very nice lady, "what is C greater than?" So as not to be rude, I told her "B." Absolutely a true story.

I found a link at Cisco that details the snmp-server commands for 5.1.x : www.cisco.com/.../b_sysman_cr51xcrs_chapter_01110.html I would start by going through the existing snmp settings, the community string and the host information to match the SolarWinds pollers. Another potential show stopper would be ACLs. You may…

Ok, so we’re looking at a line card chassis. That’s a first for me, but no matter. Let me do some checking into SNMP on that platform. Kenneth W. That’s the software version, I would like to know what the hardware is so I can do some digging in Cisco land. Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

No, I don’t see that, but that doesn’t matter to me as all I want to report on are source / destination IPs and port numbers going over our internet-facing interfaces around our global enterprise network. The data is there, I just can’t report against it. If this simple situation cannot be resolved and I am forced to get…

Do you have a Loopback defined on the device? My apologies, I assumed you do as that’s how most it is usually done in Cisco land… Kenneth W. Beg to differ – the data that I want to report on has already been collected. As I’ve said several times now, please forget that the intent is to send a report to Security. That is completely irrelevant. I can pull up and set parameters on the NTA console and go back in time as far as I want with collected NetFlow data.…

BTW, what model of router is this?

If discovery is failing I'm surprised that any of the resources are showing up. Are the resources you're referring to Interfaces? If so, are they active?

I think at this point your best option is to contact Sonic - they should know their MIBs and help you identify the correct one to poll.

I’m no NetPath expert, but I’m pretty sure that TTL decrementing is the mechanism by which the routers in the path are discovered. Kenneth W. I think it's time to get SW support involved. I hate to think that you'll have to rebuild your server just to get rid of the message, but at this point that's all I've got. Hopefully they'll have a better idea.
