The easiest thing to do is take a copy of the current CatTools install folder (and subfolders within) to ensure you have everything, else you could just take a copy of the database file (which has all your devices, activities, etc.). Regards, Steve

Ramiel“... has not yet had this functionality added. Skipping this device”, normally means that the activity you have chosen is not supported by the device type.If you are trying to backup the device with the ‘Device.Backup.TFTP’ activity, then this is the problem (it's not supported on the Cisco NXOS device type). Try…

Hi Netsupp-- Does CatTools think that the config is a NEW config with each run, or is it telling you that the config has CHANGED? If NEW, then it suggests that the original config file in the \Configs folder either: a) doesn't exist b) exists, but CatTools cannot access it to diff against the temp config file just pulled…

Hi, Have you tried using the SSH2-nopty connection 'Method' for your device setup in CatTools? Regards, Steve

Hi dave, It looks like these devices have a GUI for configuration tasks. Do you know whether you can also configure these devices via a command line interface (like the Cisco IOS CLI), so you can connect to the device using Telnet or SSH? If not, then I'm afraid CatTools will not be able to support them as CatTools only…

--brentcatoe The Cisco.Switch.IOS device type in CatTools was modified to include ALL switch stack serial numbers etc. The script modifications were made using a 3750 running IOS version 12.2(37)SE which provided all the relevant data from issuing the 'show version' command. If you aren't seeing the stack member serials,…

Hi tims. CatTools will by default issue the "more system:running-config" command on an ASA for the 'Device.Backup.Running Config' activity, but only if you have selected one of the SSH options for the device connection 'Method' field in the CatTools setup form. Because the "more system:running-config" command displays the…

Hi djaz, Which Juniper device types in CatTools have you already tried and at what point did they fail? Also what version of the Juniper O/S are your devices using? Regards, Steve

Hi Alex, The Report.Compare.Running Startup activity has a facility on the Options tab to specify text to ignore. Have a look at the following on-line help page which gives you examples of how to use the ignore text feature: http://www.kiwisyslog.com/help/cattools/act_ignoretext.htm This should hopefully resolve the issue.…

Do you see the text " ... open" when you session to the CUE from the Router? If so, does the device banner appear after this text or before it? Regards, Steve

Hi DTGEDS, The HP.Switch.2500 script is coded to handle the initial splash screen with the 'Press any key to continue' prompt, so there may be something else going on. If you can create a device capture for me I will look into the file to see if I can spot the problem. A device capture file records the communication…

Hi saad, When you asy you can't Telnet, are you referring to clicking on the Telnet button within the Device Info form (or alternatively right clicking on a device in a device list and selecting 'Telnet to device' option); or are you meaning it won't connect when running an activity in CatTools? Regards, Steve

Hi, What version of CatTools are you running and what are the CatTools device types are you using for the devices which are failing? Regards, Steve

Hi Eric, Have you created your own custom activity or are you running one of the CatTools provided activities (if so which one)? Regards, Steve

As its a Cisco VPN, I'm presuming the CLI is menu based... correct? If so, then your best bet to try using the Cisco.VPN device type in CatTools. This device type was developed as a more generic script which supports a wide range of menu based Cisco VPN devices. It parses the menus to work out which menu item number to…

Hi Johnathan, The message you are seeing in CatTools is not an error with the activity as such. That particular activity (Device.Backup.TFTP) is simply not supported for that device. For information on which activities are supported on which device types, take a look at the online device matrix. With respect to backing up…

Hi ashokja -- Generally, the '(30012) Protocol version mismatch error' occurs when you are trying to connect to the device using a protocol which the device does not support. For example: a) The device has not been configured for SSH, but you have set the (connection) 'Method' field in CatTools to be one of the SSH types.…

Which version of CatTools are you running? Regards, Steve

You could try using the Device.Cli.Send commands activity to transfer the file over TFTP. For a Cisco example of how to do this, see: http://www.kiwisyslog.com/help/cattools/act_devclisendcmd_howtobackup.htm Hope this helps. Regards, Steve

Looks like you have some issue with the component CatTools uses to connect to the devices with (wodSSH.dll). Have you tried reinstalling CatTools? I also noticed you are on v3.3.4, so you may want to consider upgrading to the latest release. The component in question was upgraded to a later version in CatTools v3.3.15 and…

Hi burhan.sidd-- The Huawei script in CatTools was created against a Huawei S3026G LAN Switch, so there may be other issues with trying to get this working with a Huawei Router. I'd recommend opening a support ticket as we'd need to get some full PuTTY captures of a session to your device, so it can be compared with the…

Hi wartungsfenster -- The problem you are having is related to your device hostname prompt of '$'. The Nortel.Switch.Passport device type (and I also checked the Nortel.Switch.Ethernet device type too) does not support '$' as being a valid hostname prompt. Can you confirm for me please whether '$' is the default…

Hi karel, I noticed that you are running quite an old version of CatTools. It could be that this was a bug in the version you are running and so upgrading to the latest version may fix the problem. However, if you wish to remain on version 3.2.11 and still have the original CatTools installation available, I'd recommend…

Hi, Have you tried the 'connect via a session' feature in CatTools?http://www.kiwisyslog.com/help/cattools/dev_connectingviaasession.htm You need to setup the first device as normal (direct connect and with the IP in the HostAddress field); then setup the second device as the connect via device. Please post back how you…

Hi, I'm presuming you are creating your own custom script here for the OpenBSD.PF.Firewall as it does not appear to be an "out-the-box" CatTools device type? From what I can tell from the debug log above, the device only requires SSH credentials to create a secure connection and there is no subsequent device authentication…

Hi, When you say for your step 2, type login and login again, are you referring to negotiating local (or some other secondary level) device authentication - i.e. responding to username and password prompts, or is this something else? Which version of CatTools are your running? Steve

Hi Pedro, I believe this issue was answered via your tech support ticket. The underlying issue is that some of the older device type scripts (Cisco.Router.General and Cisco.Switch.IOS for example) require a slightly different set of parameters for the SendCommandSingle call. If any other users encounter this same issue in…

That issue relates to the CatTools Client exe unable to create a connection thread. It may have been that the CatTools_Client.exe was running when you installed your updates and may have corrupted. You may want to try following the steps listed on he following KB article:…

Hi ShadyDave, The "Waiting For" is case 'insensitive' so that doesn't matter. Basically to fix the problem, you need to issue the relevant command to drop from ...530(config) prompt to the non-config mode prompt ...530#. Normally you'd do this in the 'ExitConfigMode' function, by sending the COMMAND_EXITCONFIG command…
