Folks, To monitor Windows Server components, such as CPU, RAM, Disk Space, Uptime, Task Scheduler, and service status, using the SolarWinds Orion monitoring platform, does the minimum requirement require assigning the Windows Service Account (gMSA) to the Active Directory BUILTIN\Administrators group…
Network Performance Monitor 2025.2.0 - We have been polling recently added Palo Alto devices for just over a year now. There is a read-only account setup in the devices and the nodes in Solarwinds are set for "Poll for Palo Alto" check box is selected, configured with the read-only account credentials. Recently, when we…
What are the benefits when configuring the WinRM filtering as opposed to the existing WMI polling that is already working without making major changes in the AD Domain [Installation and configuration for Windows Remote Management - Win32 apps | Microsoft Learn] ?
Just an idea, not sure if its feasible or not 1. What if there is a way for SolarWinds to recalibrate and move the devices across the polling engines automatically to redistribute the load on pollers. There wouldnt be a need for administrators to manually choose the pollers anymore. I will then only need to build a new…
Hello all, I haven't been working with Solarwinds for very long, only a few months. In that time I've managed to piece together this little dashboard that allows me to monitor reported battery capacity and reported runtime on APC and Eaton UPS within our environment. Here's a photo of the dashboard. What I'd like to…
Hi THWACK, > Running a HA deployment > Just upgraded to 2025.1.1 > Failed over from Main/Primary (MPE1) to Standby (MPE2) > Failover itself was fine and seamless > The issue which followed: For the ~2000 nodes now assigned to MPE2 (MPE2 took over node monitoring from MPE1) - following node polling no new node statuses seem…
Greetings All. Working in an environment where most servers run as client systems in VMWare. VMWare uses 'VxRail' devices which I think are enclosures for server modules; the server modules then run client systems. For shorthand call the VxRails VXR and the modules VMH. With SolarWinds we use VMAN and poll our VMWare…
I have 2 servers running Server 2016 on Dell bare metal VxRails hosts. In Solarwinds 01 is listed a Windows server with usual data, but 02 is listed as an ESX Server with all the VxRail info rather than Windows info. Both look to have the same Properties listed under "Edit Properties" - any idea why this could be?
Greetings All. I manage a Solarwinds installation based in the Continental United States. Received a requirement to monitor a few hundred devices overseas. Bandwidth to the overseas site not terrible but latency will run > 100 ms. I have read somewhere that Solarwinds has a type of polling server, or perhaps a specific APE…
Based on document https://solarwindscore.my.site.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/WMI-requirements-for-SolarWinds-accounts?language=en_US and due to the ever-increasing need to secure devices in environments such as domain controllers, etc where a service account with full admin rights on Windows server open the door for…
