I'm looking to generate a report that contains a list of all of our alerts along with their "Evaluation Frequency of Alert" and "Condition must exist for more than" values. These are the 2 values I'm referring to that can be found when going to "Manage Alerts" -> selecting an alert -> "EDIT ALERT":
By default, Application Dependency Monitoring (ADM) polls nodes every 120 minutes. We've found that this is not frequent enough to detect connections that are infrequent and/or brief. If I increase the polling frequency to, say, every 5 minutes, I can get ADM to detect more application connections. However, Solarwinds…
Hi, It would be useful to have a the ability to create polling frequency profiles and then assign to a device either manually or based on a customer property. For example. We might have two groups of devices: Group 1: ICMP Poll every 1 minute SNMP Poll every 5 minutes DevicePriority = High Group 2: ICMP Poll every 2 minute…
I just cannot grasp the concept of SAM's polling frequency/timeout. The way that I understand it now is say for example you are testing port 80 (http) and you have the following setup: HTTP on Server1 (port 80) Polling frequency: 300 Polling timeout: 60 To me, this means that Solarwinds "checks on" http on Server1 every 5…
which script can i use to get the daily node availability report with a column to show freqeuncy of Status change(Number of times a node has been down with in a day) desplay i one report
Please explain the way SAM uses polling frequency and polling timeout. To my knowledge, polling frequency is how often you want to run a test/poll. Polling timeout is how much time is used in the test/poll. Is this correct? Right now, we are having monitors going down because it misses only 1 poll, and we don't want that.…
If the monitoring is getting data every two minutes from a SAN, why are the graphs by the hour? An hourly average doesn't mean a whole lot when you are looking at IOPs on a SAN. It would be preferable to be able to toggle between different graph frequencies: (every hour, 15 min, 5 min, 2 min) to see if there is anything…
Hey everyone, I'm reaching out to the community in hopes that somebody can point us in the right direction and possibly provide a "best practice" on the polling frequency for SAM vs the polling intervals for a node and how this all ties together. We have been running Orion for about 6 months now and I'm still not sure that…
The minimum polling frequency in a SAM template is 60 seconds - this is way too long to wait in between tests for a highly available website. Ideally, we would like the ability to poll every 5 seconds. We migrated from ipMonitor to Orion NPM/SAM and while there are a lot of great features, the flexibility of polling…
In many situations, we alert if a monitor has gone down for a certain length of time - say 5 minutes. In the event an application is going down for a minute every other minute, something is definitely wrong, but I would never know it. It would be great to be able to alert if a monitor goes down 'x' times in 'y' minutes.
