As the ASA devices don't expose the required information via SNMP, UDT has to login and parse the command line output.
Long time reader, first time poster. In an attempt to create a single pain of glass within UDT, I am running into a problem with our router/firewall. There is no option to poll the ARP table via SNMP. I have access to the database and have looked at several tables and was wondering if anyone has used the SDK or created a…
Over 5000 thwack members have viewed this post since it was published in 2009. The author gives good news that the SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) supports analysis of flow data collected from Cisco ASA devices. Check-out the linked discussion of how the Cisco ASA devices use NetFlow as a transport protocol for…
A little while back I wrote a on network traffic analysis using NetFlow and talked specifically about NetFlow support on the Csico ASAs. One of the primary uses for NetFlow on the Cisco ASAs is as a tranport protocol for security events. That said, recently we learned that you can use NetFlow for traffic analysis on the…
This is an alert that I created and tested to alert us when the Cisco ASA fails over. FIRST you will need to be familiar with the Firewall, it's failover and the interfaces on each. We chose the actual state "failover" interface on each. You will also need to know what the current physical address of the interface when…
Over the last few days I've been writing and talking a lot about NetFlow. This is a smokin' hot topic for network engineers nowadays and so we've created some new videos and webcasts to help explain the technology and how you can leverage it. One of the subjects that kept coming up is how to get NetFlow data from your…
Hello, I currently have some Cisco ASA firewalls that I'm polling the numbers for the number of different VPN tunnels (L2L, IPSec, SSL) and the pollers are getting values just fine. My problem is when I want to graph their values on the same graph, I don't seem to have the option; it just lets me chose a single poller and…
Hey guys, so we monitor several ASA devices worldwide through the Orion server in HQ. The two that we have at HQ get their config backed up nightly along with all the other network devices. The ASAs in remote locations that connect back via IPSec VPN tunnels, I am able to monitor them via SNMP, pull netflow, whole nine,…
So, just configured both our ASA's at our remote locations in our NPM here, and it sees it, and is able to do the discovery fine, however, a few minutes after it's configured, NPM reports the devices as down and show 100% packet loss? Suspect a snmp config issue on the ASA but not sure if I'm missing something else?…
I've got a few ASA 5500's for SSL remote access clients, and I have DAP's, CSD, and AnyConnect client versions on the flash cards of my Cisco ASA's. Is there a way I can get NCM to copy these files from the flash cards? I'm thinking I have to execute a script to kick off a TFTP transfer, but how have you guys done it?
