How to extract info from Meraki dashboard through API

Hi guys,

So I really hope that one can point me in some direction here.

So today we started to implement Meraki MX firewall on our sites, and we would like to monitor them in Solarwinds, That we can do by SNMP in most of the cases that is OK, but we are missing some info, and a idea on how to make the Orion Map design

So here is a case we are looking at:

So 1 MX with 2 lines... You cannot monitor the lines, since one is running DHCP, and one is static, and Solarwinds can only monitor the port of the device.

So we thought, how can we get the info on the WAN Line, and if there is a status change here, I can see that this is possible though API :

https://developer.cisco.com/meraki/api-v1/#!get-organization-uplinks-statuses but this is not something that are working with the Meraki integrating in Solarwinds already, so is there a way where I can get this info into Solarwinds,

We would love to see if WAN1 changes from Active to Down etc, so we can see it in Solarwinds.

Hope there is a guru out here that can point me on here.

I would see if it is possible to send those Syslog messages from the Meraki Cloud to Orion and then just use the included Syslog in Orion Log Viewer to collect and alert on the status of WAN.

Hi @tjay_monitexpert thanks for your reply, but this is only for wireless, I am looking for a solution to get the WAN info out to monitor that

I had this exact same issue and the work around we did was just to create an external script running as a 10m scheduled task that polls our Meraki api and sets a custom property on the port 1 and 2 interfaces. Values like Meraki Wan failed, Meraki Wan ready, Meraki Wan disconnected. I threw those all into a dashboard and our noc keeps an eye on them. As part of the same script we set the link on the Meraki devices to link to their page in Meraki cloud dashboard so it is pretty seamless to move between the two tools now.

I would love to see more of that solution if possible, since this is what Solarwinds needs to make.
