Installing Orion NPM version 10 with license for additional polling engine and NTA at work from the ground up. I understand the additional polling engine is just an NPM install on a seperate server and once the NPM's have discovered devices we can use 'Monitor Polling Engines' feature to decide which polling engine will poll which device/s i.e. load balance. I also understand that managed devices will have to be configured to send NetFlow data to both NPM's but my questions are:
1. How do the multiple instances of NPM's know which is the master and which are the slaves and thus how do the multiple NPM's sync up?;
2. In our production environment the two instances of NPM will be using the same SQL database but in our test environment we do not have a shared SQL database thus each NPM have installed their own SQL database i.e. express install. So the question is is there a way to have the two databases sync up and making one the master and other the slave?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
P.S. Network management products/solution is not a strong point.
