Building dependencies/groups in Orion NPM and suffering slow web performance for end user

I have built about 450 groups/dependencies in my Orion NPM and have about 400 to go. As I continue to build out these dependencies, I am finding that the tool to build them is getting slower and slower on loading up the dependency table and when I attempt to display them on the Orion web page with the "All Dependencies" "Widget", the page loads are incredibly slow, on any node you choose to display. When I remove the "All Dependencies" from the Web view, the web page loads are 15-20 seconds faster for the end user. Can you tell me why this is? Is the "Manage Dependencies" feature a resource hog? Is there anything I can do to speed up web page loads while still displaying the "All Dependencies" widget on my Orion Web page? I still have roughly 400 more dependencies to build but I don't want to bring my Orion web server to a complete halt. My Orion Application standalone server is not overloaded and the CPU and Memory are running great. My Orion SQL Standalone Server is a super beefy box with 24 CPU's and 32 GB of Memory, the CPU and Memory look fine there too. Is anyone else suffereing slower Web performance as they continue to build out Groups and Dependencies in their Orion NPM? Thanks for any replies

Here are a few things I would recommend you to verify.

1.Check if your server satisfies the hardware and Database requirements mentioned in the Orion Administrator's Guide,to be more specific Chapter TWO explains in detail.

2.The topic "Server Sizing" in Chapter TWO of the Orion Administrators Guide is another important topic which I would recommend you to read them and see how your server's are sized.

In case if all the requirements and the server sizing are correctly configured,then we would suggest you to open a support ticket so that we can investigate in detail by looking into the database values and their respective files which should eventually help us to find the source of the problem and fix it.

I am having the same problem. The servers are sized correctly and will run fine for days, weeks, months, at a time. Out of the blue the Manage Dependency Page fails to load, of course, at a time I need it most. Is this fixed in 10.1.3??

I have found that if I use a Firefox browser the Manage Dependency page will load, it takes 15-20 seconds to load, but it loads.

If I use an IE browser (I still have Windows XP on my work computer, runing IE 7) the Manage Dependency page does not load.

I have a ticket open with Solar Winds support, but they have not got back to me with any sort of fix. I have given them an Orion Diagnostics Dump and allowed them to do a Web-Ex session to investigate

Now painfully slow and only 147 dependencies. What is SW doing to resolve?

Still no answer from Solar Winds on the Manage Dependencies isue. I have built roughly 500 dependencies in NPM. Orion support once told me that 500 Dependencies seems to be a lot, I told them I still have another 250 to build. The manage dependencies page is still very slow to load and most of the time refuses to load, even in Firefox. I don't even try in IE anymore. I wish I had an answer to this, for now, I have put it on the back burner as it seems no one knows how to fix this issue.

If anyone has an answer to this, I'd love to hear it too.

I have recently moved to NPM 10.2.2 code in my Orion deployment. I have noticed now when building dependencies and groups, the page loads are much faster. The dependencies/groups pages almost always load, somethimes they take a few seconds, but the overall experience is much better on the new 10.2.2 code. I can't say that I read in the 10.2.2 release notes that this dependency/groups page load problem was addressed but it certainly seems much better.

With yesterdays release of v10.4 are there numbers available on upper limits on how many groups can be created?

I have a couple of customers with a need to create a grouping structure with dependencies in the hundreds, with one approaching 1,000. Before I begin working down this route, it would be good to know if this is viable and if there are known structures to avoid (the number of sub groups, number of tiers within the groups etc.)

Anything anyone from SolarWinds can share would be gratefully received.
