I have a weird problem.
NPM shows device status warning but the physical devise is down. I have read a lot about Polling engine and the settings, but tuning the engine did not solve it.
Two examples:
A firewall is up and running. Then we take off that firewall (turned off) to test something. In Orion the firewall goes into warning state which is correct for the first couple minutes when Orion cannot poll this device. But we left it turned off for more than 12 hours and node status is still warning. Why is this node not going into down state? We have the same issue when in an office a Switch was taken out of the network.
Second example is different but almost same problem. A accespoint is up and running and shows all correct information. We unmanage this device for maintenance reasons. After we remanage that device 2 days later the node status is unknown. So we thought, maybe it takes a while until it has the correct information. But 24 hours later status is still unknown.
So the only way to get those devices back under controll is deleting the node and re-add. Is there a global setting that a device or node is in status warning rather then down?
I really have no Idea what causes this problems. Any help is welcome.
