Wireless Heat map requirements?

i'm new to solarwinds.

i read that one of the requirements is only support cisco wireless controllers. is there any reason for that? so i can tell to my customer why. because solarwinds says that they support multi vendor.

and can we monitor wireless AP without controllers?

For the heat maps, it is my understand that only the Cisco wireless controllers gather data about which APs can hear other APs and how well. The map can be built based on that data. If you don't have that data, you'd need to build it all manually by taking readings in every room, which kinda defeats the purpose.
