We are running Server 2008 R2 DCs for our RDS License Servers. Anyone know of a template or WMI counter that can be used to track issues temporary and permanent licenses? I see templates for 2003... but not 2008 / RDS.
Thanks!
Jed
You can use performance counter i guess. If not, you can use powershell cmdlets as well. Its just a hint, even i would need to check this in detail. Well, its a good question. I would find some time tomorrow to check on this. If you get anything, please do share. All the best.

I believe what you're looking for is the following Application Template.
Hey man! Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, that template is for Server 2003 and uses lsreport.exe which is not available for Server 2008. We do have this template applied to the servers - it appears it DOES return issues TS Cals, but in our environment it is only reporting the issuance of temporary (vs.permanent) TS Cals.
I'm still digging.
Thanks!!!
Touché Jed. I'll open a feature request for Windows 2008-2012R2 templates for Terminal Services licensing.
Hey Fellas
Did we make it anywhere with this? I would like to know how many licenses are in use and more importantly if I am about to run out.
Thanks
The following templates are available in the Content Exchange.
Remote Desktop Services Licensing
Terminal Services Licensing

Service: Remote Desktop Licensing component monitor is only for Windows Server 2003. Our client is using Windows Server 2012, and they want to be able to retrieve this metric, but lsreport.exe isn't on Windows 2012. Is there a way to monitor this metric in Windows Server 2012?
So I was able to get the Terminal Services Licensing component to work by copying the "Windows Resource Kits" Directory off of my old 2003 Server to my new 2012 R2 Server Basically needed the lsreport.exe file. Everything appears to be working correctly.
