Monitoring VMs affected by host failures

I'm relatively new to using Solarwinds products. I'm having an issue I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I need to find a way to alert when a VMware host fails (purple screens, stops responding, etc) causing the VMs to lose power and migrate to another host. Anyone done this before?

Hi! Out of curiosity do you have SAM only or the VMAN product as well?

At one point we had VMAN.. at least I remember a separate server that was built for it that had its own login, however at some point I recall that server being removed as I was informed the VMan stuff was rolled into the core Orion services. I'm not 100% sure if that's accurate or not. So I can't say for sure I really have it. I do know I can go to Dashboards -> Virtualization and my VM environment is shown there.

The easiest way to tell is by checking to see if you have this menu in your Dashboards. If you only have Virtualization under "Home" then that means you're utilizing our basic VM monitoring capabilities that come with SAM, rather than the full VMAN product. If you have this menu (see the screenshot below) then you have full VMAN
