I'm relatively new to using Solarwinds products. I'm having an issue I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I need to find a way to alert when a VMware host fails (purple screens, stops responding, etc) causing the VMs to lose power and migrate to another host. Anyone done this before?
Hello, Looking for some help here. We currently have vCenter polling enabled within SolarWinds and are having issues with duplicating virtual machines within the VIM_VirtualMachines table. It is not happening on any other ESXi host within vCenter, but for these 4 new hosts within a new cluster on the same vCenter server…
So when I started my job they already had a DB, NPM and NCM set up but our SolarWinds had been heavily neglected until I was hired to learn and to use SolarWinds. Months later We finally had to purchase our first Additional Polling engine! Now that we're at this point i'm really thinking about fixing and planning for…
Hey all, I was wondering if there was anyone out there who was running IVIM (the virtualization tab in NPM) side-by-side w/ Virtualization Manager. Are there any major benefits to this approach? We're still in the testing phases for Virtualization Manager, but it seems like it is going to cover our bases nicely. Thanks,…
Does the product install a client on the ESXi Servers, vCenter, or the associated VMs? Thanks, Michael
Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum and also to the Virtualization Manager product so I was wondering if you could offer some advice please. One of the things I am using the product for is to try and get an understanding of how our storage is performing (IOPs\Latency) and inturn whether this is effecting individual Virtual…
Ever since I upgraded to the NPM 10.4 RC in the Virtualization Tab in the Virtualization assets no longer list by name only by IP address now and the list of VMs running on each one that you could expand keep disappearing. Has anyone else seen this issue?vtion
When people hear the term “key performance indicators”, they often think of management metrics. But, if you’re here, you also know – or at least suspect – that there are a variety of key performance indicators that are vital to the health of your virtual environment. Moreover, you are likely aware that keeping all KPI’s…
I am getting alerts about a VM with an old snapshot. However there is no snapshot with this VM. I have confirmed this within the datastore... there is no snapshot. How do i correct this behavior?
What is the maximum number of VMs that should be using a single datastore? The answer varies depending on a lot of factors like the type of datastore and the IOPS (Input Output Per Second) of the VMs. The best indicator that a datastore is overloaded is a rise in the read/write latency on that datastore. SolarWinds…
