When you go to the "Alert Groups" tab, and Info box appears stating: "alert group" defines a set of alerts to be run against a set of DB instances. ... This approach to administering alerts is simpler than configuring lists of DB instances inside of each alert definition."
However, the mailing list, either Contacts or Contact Groups, are still buried inside the alert definition... this totally defeats the purpose of having alert groups. Let's say I have an alert group for a certain line of business in my organization and it uses some of the same alerts I've created against databases pertaining to other lines of business, the alert group I want to target to just the developers associated with that line of business will also get alerts for databases outside of their line of business as well because the contacts are defined in the alert definition. So, I still have to create a new alert definition for each line of business which makes the "Alert Groups" pointless. Please add the ability to define Contacts and Contact Groups within the Alert "Group" definition. --Thanks
