I would like a computer assignment rule that allows the asset to assume either the Site, or the Dept, or both of the owner.
There would then be a checkbox on the asset to allow the asset to assume the site and department of the owner of the asset when an owner is assigned to it.
There would also need to be a job that ran at night, for example, that would catch any department changes for the owner that happen in Active Directory in order to update the asset.
There would need to be an audit report of any changes to asset Site, Department, or Owner and the date.
Business case:
Laptops, in particular, are assigned to a person in our organization. They usually move with that person if he/she changes departments or locations.
When we purchase a computer, we would like to assign it to a person and know that the department and site info on the asset are assigned correctly based on the owner.
We also need to be able to report any such changes to Accounting on a regular basis.
