Business Case:
Our assets (anything over $500) are tracked and depreciated by our accounting department using asset depreciation software (Sage FAS).
IT must report changes to an asset to the accounting dept (if they have been retired, or changed departments, for example) so that the depreciation expense accrues to the correct department and so that we stop paying business property taxes on assets that have been disposed. The most common cases are: 1.) We assign a laptop to a different employee 2. ) An employee changes departments and keeps their equipment 3.) A computer / software / other asset changes status to "Disposed".
Feature Request:
We would like the asset database to track changes to department, location, status and owner – including the date the change was made – so that we can easily report those changes to the accounting department on a monthly basis.
