I want to be able to customize the email subject and body for DPA alerts, including choosing dynamic data fields so I can deliver the information users need in the order they need it.
Just a suggestion, but in many products you can use a variable substitution as part of the output. Perhaps the alerts could incorporate something like this to allow some flexibility in the alert subject or message?
e.g. &host, &dbname, &status, &alertmsg, and so on...
Yes, it would be nice to be able to use these placeholders the subject. And also to be able to put them in a customized order.
The kind of subject format I would use is [&host][&dbname] : name of alert - alert level
It would also be nice to be able to customize the body of the notification emails, because I find the default one is not very clear.
In addition to the name of the metric and its value, I would like to be able to give a short explanation of what the metric means, what action should be taken to solve the problem(or possibly the URL of a document explaining what to do), or whom to refer to about that alert.
It would definitely would be beneficial to customize both the subject and body. Particularly to help avoid the alarm/alert fatigue!

I love DPA - it's been useful for us.
However, the anemic alerting capabilities/customizations in DPA are really painful at this point. It especially suffers when compared to baked-in NPM alerting, obviously.
How anemic, you ask?
Let's say I want to report on a commit time threshold - say, 20 msec.
Here's one example of a small thing I can't do.
I cannot move the actual triggering data (let's say it's 35msec) to the top of the message so people on phones don't have to scroll.
I cannot insert a variable or other data into the subject so I can see the metric that broke the threshold.
I can't add text in any meaningful way.
That's anemic. I know FRs on DPA are slow to gather steam, but all we're looking for is some ability to customize these alerts.
It would've been nice if there is a way to change the email format (HTML) that DPA sends out when alert is triggered. For now it seems that it sends and email only in plain-text format. Sending email in HTML format would help to customize its body using HTML tags rather than plain-text output.
For everyone wanting to customize DPA Alert Emails, DPA 2019.4 now provides the ability to:
