Hi!
Last year I created an IP SLA operation on a node that already was added to VNQM (NPM). The target node for this operation WAS NOT added to VNQM and therefore, the target node name was just an IP Address.
This year however, the target node has been added to VNQM (by SNMP and DNS resolution has taken place) and yet the target name for this operation remains the target's IP address. I was expecting VNQM to automatically replace the target IP address with the target system name or dns but this doesn't happen.
Attached screenshot shows how the Operations overview looks. Note that the target is an IP address, even though the target has been added to VNQM.
The benefits of having names instead of IP addresses are quick and easy "at a glance" recognition of targets, and the ability to sort the targets by name in alphabetical order.
This might not seem so important to some, at least not in the beginning, but once you start dealing with several pages full of operations (hundreds!), and these pages keep growing, it isn't easy to recognize all the targets if they are listed by IP address.
What I propose as an improvement here is the ability to manually change the name of the target by clicking edit, OR let VNQM dynamically update the target node details if the target is in VNQM, specifically the target node name
