Hello fellow Thwackers!
I've found myself updating a lot of Orion Maps (or, Intelligent Maps I suppose
) recently, and one thing I'm noticing is how long it is taking me to upload individual Status Icons for each entity on my maps.
The solution I propose is to allow Folder imports when selecting Status icons for an entity, using the Status in SolarWinds appended to the file name of the icon.
For example, take each of the Statuses currently available:
- Up
- Info
- Warning
- Critical
- Down
- Unmanaged
- Unknown
- Other
Add them to the end of your Icon file name using some sort of delimiter (I have used an underscore '_' in my example below) and save all of your Icons in a single folder.
Users would then be able to select a Folder, such as the "Servers" folder in my example, when importing Icons and SolarWinds would be able to "automagically" deduce which Icons would be used for which Status and set them as such.

This solution would reduce the total amount of clicks (As it currently stands: 4 clicks per Status to upload an icon * 8 different statuses for a total of 32 individual clicks * n number of entities you have to upload icons for) to just a few, and would expedite the process significantly.
