Devices connected to Cisco 2960x switches not showing

Hello there I got a weird issue.

I have added all the interfaces including vlans to a load of Cisco 2960x switches but when I search for any mac addresses for devices such as Aruba access points connected to the Cisco 2960x switches they come up as if connected but when I open the UDT page for the device I don't get the switch and port and instead just shown a bunch of other switches as indirect connections.

I then did a UDT checker and get errors on the following the rest are fine

I assumed it was a SNMP setup error but the SNSMP works i just don't get the connected switch info from UDT

Additional Aruba switches work no issues it's just the Cisco switches which we are replacing but will take some time

What version of SNMP are you using? If your using SNMP V3 make sure you have the following commands:

snmp-server group groupname v3 auth context vlan- match <prefix access list>
snmp-server group groupname v3 priv context vlan- match <prefix access list>

On some devicesthe vlan- wild card doesn't work and you'll have to explicitly call out the vlans.

Also, if your running Cisco DNA make sure that it doesn't inject 'snmp-server group default v3 priv' command. We ran into that issue a few months back. Cisco DNS broke SW UDT, InfoBlox Network Insight & Armis by over righting our standard SNMPv3 commands and we lost the ability to see downsteam devices.

Yer i'm using SNMPv3 should have said really.

I seem to gotten a little further forward as now UDT checker don't return any errors but i still cannot see any devices on the interfaces in UDT on 2960x devices.

We don't run Cisco DNA but i'll look into using those commands suggested

I did follow that guidance and it removed the 31016: Authorization Error - User does not have rights to requested MIBs errors when I ran the UDT checker but the info still is not showing

Next steps is to check the Credentials you are using for Layer 2 Polling from the Orion webconsole specifically for UDT. You might be using the orion one which is used for NPM/General Orion Polling.

Your issue is likely due to how the 2960x switches handle MAC learning and uplinks—APs show up in the MAC table but appear as indirect on the UDT page because traffic passes through other switches. Check VLANs, trunks, and spanning tree. Like Fapello Katie Sigmond styling, you want each device’s connection neatly visible.
