Mute Alerts on daily basis on fixed time

[mention:105bd56ea1884786868eaac7c9e72cbd:23b05a61c3e5445190d9bfa00453bce4] I am looking for a solution to mute alerts on daily basis at fixed time, however I don't see this feature is available currently in SolarWinds, is there any script handy, if not SolarWinds team please take this on a high priority and develop a solution for everyone, we have one site where power is being shutdown everyday at fixed time and it has become daily job for simple solution which should have been there already.

You could try the 'Unmanage Scheduling Utility' on the Solarwinds Server. That's what I used to mute alerts whilst scheduled server reboots happen every night.

This should work. You can still get the event in the log just not have alerts fire.

+1 to scripting it for now. We are actively working on a new 'Maintenance Window' feature for recurring unmanage/mute schedules that will live in-product. Coming later this year.

Another solution is custom properties. I have used some name like - 'MWF1200-1800' with a yes/no value., The default value was No. Then I create an alert with the specific active times to exclude that time frame and the scope would include that custom value to equal Yes. In other words, the alert is only active and outside of the window and looking for nodes with matching custom properties. This avoids the PowerShell and gives you another method to do this. ****You should also use some custom properties to scope any default alerts so they so skip the nodes with the unique custom properties. This can get convoluted over time unless you have a method and reporting to keep track of what's what. But it works flawlessly when it is all setup.

+1 on custom properties. It's one of the best ways to control Orion. I like Bob's powershell too though!

Great idea! This is also useful for example if you are monitoring locations that are closed during the evening hours and the Engineers can not get physical access into the building during off hours. We use a custom property AlertAfterHours and populate the ones we do not want to alert with a No, The alert re-enables at 7am so the Engineers get paged an hour before the site opens and can head there first thing in the AM.

I use custom properties to exclude certain servers from alerts during their automated nightly reboots too. I just couldn't be bothered to rewrite all the alerts so just muted the alerts on the servers which would mean they don't trigger the alerts. Changing some of the alerts created by previous IT people is a nightmare here.
