NCM Fimware update issue, Connection timed out

Hello Thwack community, when I try to run a firmware upgrade to a certain node, I am having the following issue by copying from polling engine tftp server the image and uploading it into the flash of my cisco switch 9300. 

copy tftp://[IP ADDRESS]/SUB-FOLDER/cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin flash:
Destination filename [cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin]?
Accessing t10.195.29.173/.../cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin...
%Error opening tftp://[IP ADDRESS]/SUB-FOLDER/cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin (Timed out)

ERROR: Process could not continue because execution results do not match expected pattern: cat9k_iosxe.17.09.04a.SPA.bin

Does anybody knows what might be wrong? Seems that the expected pattern is not correct, but the image is available in the firmware repository.

Hey Alberto, I mentioned this exact same thing to a SolarWinds support agent on 9/11/2025 an have an active case on this.  As well as working on upgrading a 9300-X model.
That said the SW agent recently told me and I quote:

"Currently, SolarWinds does not provide out-of-the-box firmware upgrade templates for Cisco Catalyst 9K and 9K - X series switches. These are newer models, and default templates require specific upgrade commands that must be developed, tested, and validated before release."

I'm sure most of us use The Cisco Catalyst 9000 series of switches designed for enterprise and campus networks, so my push back was.....
The Catalyst 9300, was first introduced as one of the first models in this device series which was released on June 20, 2017.
Compare that to the EOL date of the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X which is set to end on October 31, 2027.
I am asking for support for an active product embraced by many other vendors and businesses.

Thus, if I hear any resolution or update I will reply here.  It is time that these 9k series Cisco Catalyst models are supported; it has been long enough for any testing and development work that could or should have been explored in my opinion.

I'm also looking through any existing Feature Requests like this one: (https://thwack.solarwinds.com/products/network-configuration-manager-ncm/i/feature-requests/more-native-config-change-templates) that is active and has over 280 votes already that we can possibly vote-up.  I also added my suggested specific feature request details on that same feature request vote page that we can upvote. You can search for it.   While the timeline is not as always expeditious.  I do know that SolarWinds does read, comment and listen to its customers.  Let's all stay tuned.
