Request for suggestion for those nodes polled by Agent

Hi Team,

I've been tasked with changing the polling engine from MPE to APE for devices monitored by the agent.

I'm concerned that the devices may stop polling because the agent might still be pointing to the previous polling engine.

Am I correct? If not, what will be the effect on those nodes if I change the polling engine from MPE to APE?

are you using Agent initiated polling or server initiated polling?

The Agent usually has a list of all polling engines in the registry and will be updated to switch to the corresponding Poller by any Solarwinds machine.

As long as the Network Connectivity is given, there should be no issue moving agent based machines from one poller to another.

Yes.

Select: SETTINGS > All Settings > NODE & GROUP MANAGEMENT >>Manage Agents.

Scroll to the end and you will see.

The Screen Shot uploaded shows that our two Sever Nodes are 'Agent initiated communication'

Go to All settings - Manage Agents. If you scroll to the right, as it may be off screen, you will see the column called Mode. That will say agent initiated or server initiated.

Also - how many agents are you moving? You may need to move agents in smaller groups, around 25 or so - unless that has change in 2024.2.x. There was a problem with handing agent movement in the poller agent services.

11 Nodes, which are polled by agents, and all are Agent-initiated communication. It means I can change the polling engine as explained by @HerrDoktor
