Greetings All. I have inherited a small SolarWinds installation (version 2024.1) that has sat unmanaged for > a year. Starting to navigate and familiarize I see two (actually both) polling servers listed as "Main" polling servers. I have no information on how that situation came to be in the first place. My instinct is to…
I have an environment that is very segmented, requiring multiple PEs to reach the various networks. I would like to be able to select "All Pollers" when doing a network discovery. If my IP doesn't respond using poller01, try with poller02, then 03. I have 7 pollers, and have to run a different discovery for each PE to go…
Hello, In our environment we have weekly reboots for all four of our polling engines. Unfortunately when these servers are doing their weekly reboots the nodes being polled by them appear down so alerts are sent out. Is there a way to suppress these alerts? So for the only way is to schedule an alert disable during the…
When adding new node, default Polling Engine selection comes as primary node. There may be lots of people in a company who adds node and does not check it is primary node or polling engine. To reduce the load of primary node, it should be allowed to shown a Polling engine rather than the primary node. This option could be…
Hi Team, I've been tasked with changing the polling engine from MPE to APE for devices monitored by the agent. I'm concerned that the devices may stop polling because the agent might still be pointing to the previous polling engine. Am I correct? If not, what will be the effect on those nodes if I change the polling engine…
It should be possible to reassign an agent-initiated node to a new APE or HA pool using the Solarwinds API or the GUI. I recently had a failure of an HA pool (both active and standby servers failed) with dozens of agent-initiated nodes. It turns out you can't reassign the agents to another HA pool or APE because the agent…
Client is requesting to add a load balancer wherein upon enrolling nodes, solarwinds will already choose the polling engine with the lowest polling rate. The newly added node would then be polled by this one.
Hello, We are designing with a client a new project to bring scalability to their environment. The question is, is it possible in a hybrid cloud deployment, containing the main polling engine on premises and the additional polling engine in the AWS cloud, instead of using a VPN tunnel to provide communication between the…
I have read that you can stack up to three Additional Polling Engines on the same server as the Main Poller, but have found little information on what the requirements are and how this can be done. Can someone shed some light on this topic? It would help me a lot. Thanks in advance. Regards, J. Roman
It would be nice to allow Solarwinds to auto balance elements between pollers. This would also come in handy if you are building out and add additional pollers and want an easy way to efficiently move devices between the existing and new pollers. Finally, there could be an option when adding a node to have an Auto Select…
