Get the latest news about SolarWinds Virtualization Manager (VMAN)
* I have a new install without a pre-existing VMAN Appliance to integrate or migrate * "Virtualization Manager Primary v6 - Up to 112 Sockets" License is assigned to the Primary Orion Server * I do NOT get the error "Error: The virtualization manager primary license could not be validated." * Updating to VMAN 8.2 did not…
I've been tasked with updating our SolarWinds environment for the first time so forgive my lack of knowledge. We currently have the Vman appliance on version 7.1 and a windows app server running Orion 2017.3 and SAM 6.4. From what I've read we need to retire the appliance and integrate the polling into Orion. I would like…
On the node page, I recently noticed this resource was showing a timestamp in the future. Do these alerts appear in UTC since both ESXi uses UTC, and apparently some Orion components, store time in the database in UTC?
Now that we have taken the step of migrating all the VMAN functions over to the integrated Orion setup, where do I find some of the neat features like historical trends for running VMS and the like. Those management dashboards are in high demand here
Environment: vMan Orion 8.1 (no appliance) and Orion 2017.3 with SAM 6.5 Objective: Alert on disk utilization from any VMs managed by vMan. These VMs are only managed by vMan and not managed by SAM thus the VMs are not managed nodes from Orion perspective. In other words, I like to alert when vMan VM Component Volumes…
So when upgrading SAM, SRM and Orion VMan to the latest available versions, the installer prompts a warning that our appliance is at 8.1 Doesn't look like there is an 8.2 Upgrade ISO for VMan appliances, so a false alarm there?
Hello All: I have a server that is hosting a number of internal web apps & it routinely runs at 100% Memory Utilization & would like to exclude the server itself from the alerting for "High VM Memory Utilization" alert. I think it's possible to it's possible to add it to: "vm.powerstate:poweredOn AND vm.memload.latest:[90…
I have installed VMAN 8.2 and connected my vCenter. I can now see all my hosts/VM's. Most of my VM's are already being polled by Agent/SNMP. My question is my hosts. When I click one that says it has an issue it tells me it is not monitored by Orion. I thought that was VMAN's job? So should all my hosts be setup SNMP in…
We have elminated our VMAN appliance but I've received a complaint that its now difficult to search for a esx host by name now, with the VMAN appliance there was a search box you could search for a ESC host name or cluster or VM, is that functionality gone now? or could someone point me in the right direction to find this…
Environment: vMan Orion 8.1 (no appliance) and Orion 2017.3 with SAM 6.5 Objective: Chart VM Component Volume historic free space and used%. These VMs are only managed by vMan not managed by SAM thus the VMs are not managed nodes from Orion perspective. I can't seem to find a widget that allows me create a historic chart…
