I did have a lovely precis of my career in IT but the late 2025 THWACK upgrade nuked it. My TLDR: been in IT for 40yrs from a fledgling delivery & installation person to field repairs to in-house guru to network engineer to monitoring maverick!

  • This new platform feels extremely not polished. Oh, and don't get me started on the woes of the "new" mapping setup. I've shouted long and loud about it, and a lot of my suggestions have now been implemented but sadly not all. it works for 1 way but the other way creates a 2 way link. And one of the reasons I never add…
  • you assign "Egress" or "Ingress", You only need to assign egress and ingress when you create a link to a node that you do not monitor. Such as a WAN link. See my screenshot where the left hand side does not have an node to link with, but in this case it is just an image of a cloud… Essentially so long as one is in and one…
  • Shame… I see SWI fixed part of the problem with unmanaging nodes but not all of it from the GUI. And they seem to keep doing this… announce X is being deprecated launch Y as it's replacement but not all of the functionality of X. I know we are now in a world of AI, but expecting everyone to have unlimited access to it or…
  • Time to raise an incident with support - they are best placed to help with upgarde issues.
  • However, in Intelligent Maps, there does not appear to be an option to do this. Absolutely you can do this. First, select the two nodes you want to link (N.B. shift select does not work - either Ctrl select or drag and select) and then from the toolbar at the top select this icon Having done that click the configure button…
  • Thanks Bala - I will need to read and re-read this a few times to make sure I fully understand it but it does sound like a solution has been found. It will be interesting to try this out "in the wild".
  • so NCM may misclassify it as a Wireless Controller. Out of the box IT IS a Wireless Controller. This is not an incorrect identification issue, it is purely a human issue. The fact that you, or I are not using it as a wireless controller does not stop it from being one. To fix, it is simply a matter of, as several posts…
  • Can you share your report setup? VLan is just another type of interface so shouldn't have an issue.
  • I'd not heard of AKIPS before so just spent a few minutes finding out. As to your query - via UnDPs is the answer. As @bobmarley reply points out this will save him that effort.
  • This deserves to be celebrated with a Haiku. Earlier, stalled rewards, now systems run, store returns, effort seen at last
  • As a part of creating your UnDP you get the "where to display" page. I usually tick the box for the vital stats page as I find the default Node Details page can get overloaded. Once on the relevant page, you need to add a widget that will show your data. From memory, as I'm not in front of one of my environments right now,…
  • First things first - can SWI see the pools? Easiest way to check that is if you go to one of your F5 node details page and then add the "List of Pools" widget if not already added. Next, in the alert builder, set your "I want to alert on" to one of these: And then your trigger status to something like:
  • You don't say what the SD-Wan device is nor what version of SWI you are on. But, here's the "what" page for what 2024.2 and newer should be able to see: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/npm/content/npm-aruba-sdwan.htm
  • apologies - duplicate post
  • SWI needs to have SNMP access, and the end node also needs to support the specific requests. You mention it isn't finding it via API but you didn't share your API request? FWIW - Aruba is a part of the HPE "environment" and like HPE then depending on the specific end device they don't always have everything enabled.
  • The couple of times I've taken the exam, then the questions have varied greatly from theory to hands on, with percentages of each being different each time. To answer your specific questions: all of the topics in the study guide - https://solarwindscore.my.site.com/SuccessCenter/s/scp-npm-exam-guide?language=en_US (you'll…
  • Sounds like a decent idea, but you'd likely get more response/traction if you post this over in the NPM section. Also, perhaps flesh out the idea a bit more as my take is that it sounds a bit confusing right now.
  • As @naveensingh43 says, you can create a report and you can also include any Custom Properties if you wish, not just default node attributes.
  • Right ok, a MD is much clearer. But do you want this: For a specific node and interface? For all nodes and interfaces? And to be clear - what do you mean by "high interface traffic"? Are you after it saying when any or specific interface hits 80% usage then show here type of thing or…?
  • For sure you can - but the cost won't be pretty I suspect. And that's before you add a node. Anyway, either reach out to your current Solarwinds Customer Manager or go here: https://www.solarwinds.com/onlinequotes and click the big 'Request Quote' button.
  • Not promising I can do what you need, but your question isn't clear (for me) as to what your end aim is? What are you looking to achieve, where do you want this widget, etc? That said, have you looked at an interface tab for the default widgets applied? Or looked at what is available as extra widgets as one of them may…
  • Yeah they do… Click on your profile image, and then again on the expanded view and under the About Me where the 2nd padlock is in the below image you will see them. Then just below that in the larger box are your lifetime points.
  • You say you are currently using the above template. Does that mean it works? And to be clear, when you say Device Template do you mean a poller as found in: Settings > All Settings > Manage Pollers ? If so, I suspect you will need to create one of your own, as I don't recall ever seeing a Peplink one.
  • Interesting… I'm with Chrystal on this - call me an old curmudgeon if you wish - but AI is being used as a club on staff, and not all of us want to learn it or even need to learn it. Where I work we are being driven to use AI. I've tried but nearly everything I've thrown at it has taken me far longer to complete than the…
  • Doesn't really add anything to the Ops query though as it is just the question raiser talking to themselves. It does, however, confirm what I said - it needs to be done via UnDPs 😉
  • I've not done it, but the answers are going to be the same for any certification exam… Study, study again, and study some more. Also, get hands on with the application itself. Also, have you been through this:…
  • I'd never heard of BFD before so did a quick search. I can also see there are a lot of OIDs available e.g. https://mibs.observium.org/mib/CISCO-SDWAN-BFD-MIB/ - so as this is not natively built into Solarwinds, then you will need to build UnDPs and then add those in as widgets to your chosen template(s).
  • To backstop what @dodo123 said, if you click the little notes symbol next to the download button it shows you this:
  • It's not clear whether your role is just on the monitoring side or if like myself you also have a hand in the physical side. But the fix is to complete the ring and perhaps this page is your starter for 10:…
