Palo Alto out of box monitoring

There seems to be a real lack of monitoring alerts and features for Palo Alto firewalls compared to Cisco. I find that you have to create custom MIBs for monitoring line cards, HA, and other basic things that any network engineer would want to monitor. Even with the REST API, you still do not get these values which is extremely disappointing.

What is with this and how do we get more out of box alerts?
What is everyone else doing for alerts they want?

I have enabled the following NCM parts for our Palo's can get a bunch of different information out of it - GP VPN, site to site VPN, hardware stats, interface stats.

Sadly this is the way of it for the vendors seen as "non primary". I mean, I get it, as 15yrs+ ago Cisco dominated so it was appropriate for a monitoring product to concentrate on that.

But with the size that Solarwinds now is, its market share and the price they charge then they absolutely need to do better by default.

As @vinay.by says - rase an FR for it, or find ones already raised and bump or comment on them.

Oh, you might need to click the "Enable CLI polling" box too? Not sure…

If you go into "Edit Properties", down near the bottom of that screen, there is a checkbox to "Poll for Palo Alto", you have to put the credentials in as it logs into the box. Not 100% sure what else it gives you, but might give that a try?
