My last job I used SCCM2007 and one feature I really miss from Patch Manager is Maintenance Windows. I normally push patches after 9pm each night but we have a bunch of laptops that don't connect until the next morning. I don't want updates pushed to them immediately (currently it's 15 minutes after they start up due to…

I thought I read that the Microsoft Schannel patch MS14-066 (KB2992611) has issues with SHA-1 certs with expiration dates after January 1st, 2016? That's the deprecation date Microsoft announced in their new policy. http://blogs.technet.com/b/pki/archive/2013/11/12/sha1-deprecation-policy.aspx

I agree with Lawrence, you'll probably have to patch incrementally due to Adobe's incompetence. We already had 10.1.6 deployed here when I took over patching and I've successfully deployed 10.1.7, 10.1.8, 10.1.9 and 10.1.10 since then.

Always hated dealing with Chrome. I remember the older versions didn't even put an entry in Add/Remove Programs. I see someone linked an NSA Hardening Guide for Google Chome that includes Powershell scripts for inventorying your machines and comparing the installed versions with the latest version so you can see which…

Yep, we bought two licenses of PDQ Deploy and Inventory and love it. VERY well supported and updated constantly. We'll probably dump PM next August when our support expires.
-
New Flash, Shockwave, Reader and Acrobat versions released today by Adobe. Also new Google Chrome is out and supposed to be new JRE releases today.
-
Yeah, same issue here thanks to this bug. Screenshots from the same machine showing what Google Chrome says the version number is and what Add/Remove Programs says the installed version is.
-
From your screenshots everything looks right to me too. I would check the c:\windows\WindowsUpdate.log file for errors. (If it's Win10 OS you'll need to convert the .ETL log file to text format using PowerShell). You also might want to try uninstalling the 8u111 x64 manually as a test to see if it fails that too.
-
Sure thing, always welcome other's opinions. We just bought 1 Enterprise license last week of PDQDeploy to manage patches for this other group that is totally segregated from our other group that we manage. I installed it on their WSUS server and this morning added the free version of PDQInventory so I can test that out.

I didn't even bother with PSExec, I just added 3 new MSI uninstall actions in the PackageBoot editor.
-
I didn't even look at the pre-req rules, I just published the package as is and it applied with no issues. Same goes for all the Acrobat and Reader patches that I've deployed. But you can have issues if you try to skip versions. The Adobe .MSP files usually look for a specific version that they can upgrade from.
-
Probably the same guy who contacted us back in August. I complained then about the package release times and nothing has really changed. Would be nice to see some major product improvements too but I've seen nothing but minor tweaks in the 3 years I've been using the product.
-
Okay, I got it fixed. Re-imported the .MSI packages and then re-published the Chrome packages and the installs worked fine. Apparently Patch Manager's Auto Publish screwed up the last 2 Google Chrome releases because I saw the issue with both 52.0.2743.82 and 52.0.2743.116. At least now I know how to fix it should it…
-
I don't think that's the problem. I did some tests. 1. Did a manual upgrade of Chrome from 51.0.2704.106 to 52.0.2743.116 - worked fine. 2. Uninstalled 51.0.2704.106, installed 51.0.2704.103, ran Windows Update and 52.0.2743.116 installed successfully. 3. Uninstalled Chrome, installed 51.0.2704.106, ran Windows Update and…

I don't use the proxy settings here but a quick search of the Patch Manager forums says there are 2 places where you have to configure the proxy settings. One is under the Synchronization Settings. This one is for synchronizing updates. The other one is under Administration and Reporting->General Settings->Proxy…

I uninstalled all copies here silently using PDQ Deploy and this command line "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\uninst.exe" /S

I just saw the same issue when trying to import the new Adobe Air that was released yesterday. I downloaded it from Adobe and when I tried to import it got the "The file that was selected does not match the name in the package..." error. Seems that the new Patch Manager has some kind of bug or their packages are not…

Just synced at 11:04am EST, still nothing. Dealing with SolarWinds regarding this product is getting old. Either fully support/update the product or kill it off. Don't leave your customers swinging in the breeze. Being treated this way makes me want to avoid ALL SolarWinds products. Testing out PDQDeploy and PDQInventory…

I got nothing last night and just did 2 manual polls this morning and received no JRE packages. There's a new Chrome v58.0.3029.81 and Firefox 53.0 out also.

This other thread has some other things you can verify when getting the error message you are seeing. 3rd Party Updates failing as not applicable
-
Have you checked to see if the app did install properly? It may just be your Installed Rules for the package need to be tweaked to recognize that the app did install. For the custom 3rd party packages I've built I've had to use various Installed Rules to verify installation, depending on how the apps were written. Some you…

Do you have any Unapproved patches which show a Needed status? Those would skew the results. I have many here that I don't approve for one reason or another (application incompatibility, non-security update, unwanted app, etc.). I could decline them and then they'd drop off the Needed list, but I keep them around for…

Mine looks the same. Looks like you have Hotfix1 installed. You can get rid of that version conflict warning message by installing 2 of the hotfix .DLLs to the following location where you have Orion installed. \Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\2.0 I replaced Csla.dll and…
-
Why are you creating the packages? They should already exist in Patch Manager if you are syncing the Adobe stuff from SolarWinds. I've applied all the Adobe Acrobat and Reader patches over the past year just by publishing the package which downloads the files from Adobe and then approving them for distribution.…
-
All of our Acrobat installs are done from the original CD. And they've all been updating fine from Patch Manager. I think our Reader installs have been a mixture of original manual installs using the .EXE from Adobe or a full version upgrade from Patch Manager. I've seen no issues with updating any of those either.
-
I would assume that is the issue. From that link I sent your earlier... Requirements for Windows 10 servicing with WSUS To be able to use WSUS to manage and deploy Windows 10 feature updates, you must have WSUS 4.0, which is available in the Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2012 operating systems. In addition to…
-
Did you check the version of the .MSI you downloaded? This page, Chrome for Work - Chrome Browser is still giving out 52.0.2743.116 even though the page labels say 53.0.2785.89. The stable channel update blog did say this, "The Chrome team is delighted to announce the promotion of Chrome 53 to the stable channel for…

You have to re-apply once a year for the Adobe End-User Redistribution License. From the e-mail I got from Adobe after renewing mine this year: "Attached is an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) file of the distribution license agreement. Please keep this file for your records. The agreement is valid for one year, after…

I don't have any downstream servers but I would assume you need to install the patch on all of your WSUS servers. And yes, all my servers show up with the correct names.

Yeah, I got Flash and Air this morning, already to deployed to my test VMs for testing. I did get an error when trying to import the source file for Adobe Air, reported it to SolarWinds. Ended up using the workaround to import it into the Adobe Air package. Imports for Flash worked fine.
