  • Thanks! That worked out nicely.
  • I have played with a lot of the built in reports and have an idea of what I want now, but am not sure how to customize it so it filters out the noise. The physical entities report gives me exactly what I want, however I would like to only show a row if there is a serial number present. Any idea how I could achieve this?
  • Brandon - I do show .NET 3.5 SP1 installed in my Programs list along with 3.0 and 2.0. I will open a ticket with support and see what they come back with.
  •  So just to clarify - I should only enable IP SLA on my border routers? I have a large site (400+users) that has multiple border routers, a core switch and user stacks. If I enable IP SLA on the voice routers I should be ok? Then I would enable it on the border routers at the location where the phone system sits?
  • Is there anything specific that needs to be done with Orion to enable this? I know I would need a certificate. Are there instructions in any of the Admin guides (I looked but didn't see any). Is it all just done with IIS? (I am not an IIS person by any means)
  • No I have not upgraded yet. I was trying to wait for the official release. Is the RC pretty stable? Is it safe to upgrade in a production environment?
  • Apparently the user account I was using didn't have admin rights to the box. Once I added that the errors went away and the job runs smoothly now. Thanks.
  • I don't see anything in the Application log, but I am getting DCOM errors in the System log when this job runs. Event Type: Error Event Source: DCOM Event Category: None Event ID: 10016 Date: 4/18/2007 Time: 11:53:01 PM User: SARCOM\solarwinds Computer: VCOLSW01 Description: The machine-default permission settings do not…
  • Yep - looks like permissions somehow got changed up. I just got it working. Thanks!
  • My Riverbed shows 50% bandwidth reduction on the WAN so I trust those results over these.
  • I am not a SQL person either so I wouldn't have a clue how to do that.
  • The ${PercentMemoryUsed} doesn't work. The alert spits out the ${PercentMemoryUsed} text and not a number.
  •  Thanks - at least I can say it is coming in the future now.
  • We are still seeing this issue and with Orion growing daily I have way too many systems to go around restarting SNMP after every outage. Do others see this problem and how do you get around it?
  • Thanks for the info. I wound up just upgraded the database to 2005. I would have had to do it anyways.
  • I have their views restricted to their nodes/servers. Problem is they want to see things organized by what website each server belongs to and if it is a web server vs sql server etc. I have the All Nodes view set up for the full admin view of site location, device type. I was hoping to be able to give them a different type…
  • Thanks for the reply. We have EOC licensing already and I have been quite disappointed with it in the past and have no real plans to continue using it.
  • Thanks!
  • I did try this on one of our routers just as a test and got the same results. However, even if it worked it wouldn't be much used as all of our core "routing" devices are L3 switches (either 4500 or 6500). Forgot to mention that I am able to use Workspace studio and IP Network Browser to get a list of the TCP/IP Networks…
  •  Turns out that the nodes reporting these errors were set to DHCP addresses within System Manager. Unchecking that seems to have corrected the problem.
  • Great! I will try to configure our servers again. I will let you know if I have any problems.
  •  Our memory is showing anywhere from 60%-100%, but it matches up with the statistics we are seeing on the servers so I think it is correct. It looks like my Unix admin was able to locate v5.0.9 of net-snmp for Linux. He is installing it now so I will let you know what things look like once we have it configured.
  • I have looking at the PageGate solution since you mentinoed it. Going over their forums I see references to Solarwinds only working with NotePage, however that sounds like a much simpliar solution. It sounds like I need the PageGate functionality. What modules did you have to purchase with PageGate to get it to work? Was…
  • Opening ticket with support on this...
  • Shoot - I didn't realize I posted on EOC forum. No these are on my NPM server. I will repost on that forum. Thanks.
  • Doing the remote WMI test from Orion server I do not see any of the Win32_PerfFormattedData_MSSQLSERVER Classes listed. Could this be part of the problem? Is there something I need to turn on or install?
  •  Chris Thanks for the response. Here are the specs: 1) 144 2) 2.10 Ghz Quad Core 1 GB RAM: Windows Server 2003 Standard SP 2 3) SQL 2000 on physical server. Same DB server that Orion DB is on. I know believe the server is "stressed" and cannot keep up with all the Netflow etc and I am pushing a better standalone server…
  • Just opened Case # 124466.
  • There is no firewall between these devices. Some of them are connected to Orion server via point to point links and others are across VPN tunnels, but there is no firewall in the path. Any other ideas?
  •  All I am getting out of that document is that the user must be a member of the administrators group on the server. The service account that I am using (on the domain) is part of the local admin group but does not work when using the remote WMI testing. However, my domain admin account does. Why?
