  •  Just a quick update. It appears the processor driver update fixed the problem. Thanks for all the help!
  • After some research one of my server guys found this discussion: forums.pcper.com/showthread.php He applied the updated processor drivers about 4 hours ago and so far things appear to be stable. The real test will be if things stay that way overnight or not. I will post what happens over the weekend. If that doesn't work I…
  •  We looked in the bios yesterday and made a power control change from OS to HP Low Power. There was no where we could find to disable CPU power management though. The issue reappeared last night. It seems a reboot solves the problem for a couple of hours. The KB listed by Network_Guru states is only applies to XP and…
  •  Can anyone help on how to disabled CPU power management? I am getting 40+ bogus pages daily because of this issue.
  • Not being a server person how do you go about disabling CPU power managment? Or is it specific to the vendor? Does this have to be done in the bios?
  •  Exactly my problem here. I just recently upgraded to Orion SL500 with VoIP and NTA. We blew through those interfaces in three months and I desperately need more, but already sepent $16K+ on the original upgrade (from SL250 as well as adding NTA and VoIP for first time). If I only had to add on the upgrade for Orion to…
  •  I am going to try running Orion front end on 64-bit. Currently our SQL server is running 64-bit. My dual core32-bit is so unstable now I have no choice but to try a single core 3.0 GHz. I will bump up the RAM if I have to but I can't ask for another server until I at least try this one.
  • Thanks - I have sent them the information the requested.
  •  Chris I have uploaded my DB and opened ticket 59701.
  • Did you ever get an answer from support on this? I am seeing this for the first time on several switches and routers. NPM works fine with the SNMPv3 info and NCM validates SNMP ok but the inventory fails.
  •  Denny, I have sent you a PM.
  • I opened ticket 125290 yesterday but have not had any response yet.
  •  Cirrus is able to validate the login ok. Below is the output. System Information at 3:42:23 Tue Apr 22, 2036 Alteon Application Switch 2424-SSL Switch is up 76 days, 22 hours, 21 minutes and 21 seconds. Last boot: 15:06:21 Wed Jul 25, 2007 (unknown reason or power cycle) Last apply: 5:38:50 Thu Apr 17, 2036 Last save:…
  • One of the database servers will remain in production so I guess I can pick one of the Orion install and run all the upgrades to SLX on that first. This will also ensure the database gets updated. Then back everything up and migrate the front end licensing to the new front end server. Then I just have to worry about…
  • Not yet, but both of these are definitely on our roadmap. How would you prioritize the order in which config operations are added to the website? E.g. 1. Execute script 2. Upload 3. Download I would say Execute scripts with the ability to manage the Scheduled tasks from the web console. I would like to minimize the number…
  •  I have just confirmed with two users logged into Cirrus Manager CPU runs at 100% almost constantly still. It seems each user has the service Confirguration-Management.exe and each one users 40-50% CPU. This is becoming critical for us as the application is becoming more and more unusable. How can I determine if this is…
  •  The CN is the same as the DNS entry for the server. cirrus.domain.com is the CN and the IP of the server has a DNS entry for cirrus.domain.com.
  • No account limitations. The report comes back with "No activity to report"
  • Do you just remove from Orion and readd or do you atually reinstall SNMP on the server? Have you found that this is more likeyly to happen on certain versions of Windows?
  • Ahh - I was looking in the syslogd folder. Never even thought to check the Solarwinds folder. Very tricky! Looks good so far. Only 15Mb. I will play with the archiving/log viewer tomorrow and yell your way if I have any more questions. Thanks for the help!
  •  So I got the switch side IP and the device is supposedly open to SNMP from anywhere however it appears that I cannot query it unless I am on the local VLAN. Does this sound right? This site is across the country and I imagine there are Orion set ups out that there query Cisco 6500s that sit on different VLANs than Orion.
  • if you had the ability to allow users to view existing alerts, enable and disable them would this be good as an interm solution? Yes this would be very helpful to our NOC and a nice step in the right direction.
  • Denny, Thanks for the help here. My database server is not an issue. We just spent a couple of grand on a stand alone dedicated server. The specs are as follows: Quad-Core 2.10 GHz with 16GB of RAM running 64-bit Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2. SQL 2005. My old DB server was a problem, but this one does not have the…
  •  Opened Case # 63426 and am uploading event logs using Leap File.
  • Below is a snapshot of the device interface and tftp'ing the config. System Information at 2:38:38 Thu Apr 17, 2036 Alteon Application Switch 2424-SSL Switch is up 71 days, 21 hours, 17 minutes and 39 seconds. •  Thanks. I have opened a ticket with support.
  • Ok I got that part done, but I can get the Physical Entities options to show up n the Filter Results tab so I can filter out anything that does not have a serial number. I only see Node Details, Discovered Properties, Login Information and Communication.
  • I tired filtering but I can't find the Serial Number field in the Discovered Properties section.
  • Great - I will schedule a time to upgrade our systems.
  • I am not as concerned about the historical data as the customizations: custom properties, custom views etc.
